LIGHT Rack/bag
Moderator: Moderator Team
Any here doing some touring, and can give advise on lightweight equipment.
I'm planning on doing some high speed credit card touring later on this year.
I am wanting to use my road bikes with some sort of seatpost mounted rack
and trunk bag. Will be moving luggage from place to place using courier or bus.
So looking to hold only what I need during the day and something that is light
and won't be too noticeable on bike handling/feel

When you're totally unsupported and far from home.
There are things you might need during course of a
day's ride. While luggage in transit.
Clothes-extra layer in case of rain/cooler temperature .
Some light shoes when off the bike to not walk in
LUST carbon shoes. Camera/phone. Liquid energy
etc.

I would suggest a large saddle bag like the revelate designs pika or the Jandd mountain wedge III. Maybe not what you had in mind but I have had great luck with durability from both brands. It's a place to start anyway.

I'd go with the revelate in the rear and a bar bag if you need more room. If you want something other than the revelate (it can be hard to find stuff inside without taking everything out) then a moots race and and trunk bag is pretty light. I don't much like Moots bags that come with the rack
I've done tours like this with just a road bike. It would be nice to have a bit more capacity to be able to buy a few things or carry real cold weather gear if going over major mountain passes, etc, though.

I once saw this bag, it looked nice and classy, it has a pretty unique rack too http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?pa ... gory_id=24
