so a friend of mine wants to try semi-compact rings but not ready to replace the current crank yet.
I wonder if there is any 130BCM 52/36 rings out there? the smallest i can find is 52/38.
much appreciated

Try something like a 105 compact, i paid under €100 for mine. Not a huge amount more than two good quality 130bcd rings (which would be around €60-70).
Tiagra is cheaper, but heavy enough to distort the curve of local space-time

it's not for my project. by "a friend" I actually mean a friend..not the kind of "friend" when you talk to a shrink
He is about to upgrade groupset on his Venge from old Red to 9070. Decided to go with Gravitas crank but not sure what BCD.
He likes how standard rings ride but is tempted to try semi compact. It would be nice if 52/36 is available for 130BCD.

LOL. I agree it would be nice. I searched high and low for a 52/36 combo in 130BCD; alas, I gave up and purchased a 110BCD spider for the SLSI ... still on the hunt for the best (performance:cost) combo to install.

I've got 52/36 Q Rings on my 130BCD Dura-Ace 7800 cranks...
2011 Scott Addict R3 (DA groupset, Tune Skyline RR wheelset, Rotor 52/36 Q-Rings)
2008 Giant Trinity A1 (cheapass 50mm carbon clinchers)

I make rings for a living and there´s no possibility to fit anything less than a 38 on a 130BCD crankset, especially not oval.
110 is around 33 as lowest.

Yeah the other thing that people forget on that basis is that the the smallest Osymetric or Rotor Q ring you can get on a given BCD is larger than a round ring, because the smallest diameter section of the ring can only be 38T or 33T for 130 and 110 BCD respectively. So for instance 42T is the smallest Osymetric you can get on a 130BCD crankset - it's 38T at the smallest diameter and 46T at the largest, so 42T average. Sorry if I lost some people...
