HI All,

New to the forum, and if you've followed my recent thread about waiting restlessly for my CAAD 10 to arrive in Vancouver.....here's the happy ending! (or beginning rather)

The bike: 2013 CAAD 10 105
Mods: 105 brakes, LOOK Keo Max 2 pedals, Bontrager RL cages (hey they matched!), and an honest attempt to get the rider's weight down. :D

Going to be focusing on getting myself up to speed (and shape), and if at some point I get faster than the bike, then I'll start adding more lightness.

My WW credentials extend beyond bikes though
When I'm not working or riding, I hillclimb race in a Swift DB1 Formula Ford, and I Daily-Drive, Track, & Autocross a Lotus Elise....so the idea of performance via light weight is not lost on me!
So, I look forward to getting faster, lighter, and perhaps meeting some of you folks along the way.

Cheers!

Looks shiny and new!

Now go get a fitting and trim that steerer post-fit.

Three quick things:

1. Welcome!
2. Love that livery - well worth the wait
3. Those lovely matching bar-end plugs are sweet, but very heavy. Swap them out for some plastic ones when you decide to re-wrap the bars

You'll also find plenty of CAADx / SuperSix owners here to begin down the slippery WW slope

Pic of the Elise?

Believe it or not, it's been done!
In my case, that's why my winter-beater has a big trunk :)

Well, I've put about 100km on the bike so far - basically taking advantage of the few sunny days we've had since last week.
It's a great ride so far, comfy and quick, really enjoyable on fast descents too.
A few nice compliments along the way.
And one ill-timed pinch flat, at night next to a dimly lit backroad...:S
I seem to have caught the WW bug though...because I've already started thinking about what I can improve first!

One of the first things I've noticed is that the stock RS-10 wheels feel pretty heavy.
Not sure what the weight is on 'em, but they certainly don't feel as quick as the Ksyrium's that were on the old demo supersix (and those are no featherweights).
Found a pair of Bontrager X-Lites on cl at a great price, and I'm thinking those might make for a good inexpensive starting point!
(opinions welcomed)

...Think it'll be time for me to start a build thread before too long...but I'll try a little bit to resist going too nuts too soon!
-I've still got about 15lbs of personal weight to shed to get back into my optimal zone.
And other than the wheels, it's a pretty darn tight ride.

Can you post size/weight info for the stock build? I'm looking at one presently and would like to know the complete weight. Thanks!

Rule #25 // The bikes on top of your car should be worth more than the car.
Or at least be relatively more expensive. Basically, if you’re putting your Huffy on your Rolls, you’re in trouble, mister. Remember what Sean said:

Sean Kelly, being interviewed after the ’84 Amstel Gold Race, spots his wife leaning against his Citroën AX. He interrupts the interview to tell her to get off the paintwork, to which she shrugs, “In your life the car comes first, then the bike, then me.” Instinctively, he snaps back, “You got the order wrong. The bike comes first.”

I had an Elise too and loved it. Switched to a Tesla Roadster and the acceleration and green cards are superior, but driving the Elise was a dream.

In terms of weight loss benefitting the ride, light wheels are great. And likely a good gram improvement/$ ratio for you. That said, aero wheels offer other advantages, depending on what kind of riding you're doing. How much wind, climbing, group riding, descending...
