This is my first WW bike after 25 years on a steel frame with Campy.
The goal was to get the best balance of: high reliability, light weight and fair cost.
Looks were not high on my priority list, hence stayed with the UD finish, i.e. stealth

Component selections were based on weight savings of typically less than $1/g, e.g. Token skewers saved 50 g at a cost of $45.
The total weight could be further lowered (to sub 6 kg) but at a cost:

• Tune topper & seat, 110+ g lighter at a cost of ~$4/g
• Extralite stem and Zipp SL bar, 130+ g lighter at a cost of ~$3/g
• Either Stans 340 wheelset at $500-1000, or carbon tub. wheelset $1000-2000+

At this point in time it is hard to justify these costs ... better to focus on getting plenty of century's up as well as fitness and nutrition.

Currently only about 150 km on it, still micro adjusting components, also will trial:

• light weight ride kit (Continental Saddle Pack containing: Topeak toolbar, spare tube, house key, ccard and $ note) ~170 g all up
• interested in the Barbieri Nana Carbon Mini Pump, at 29 g it’s a WW. Anyone had experience with it?

How is the bike holding up and what are your thoughts now you've had a little longer?

Appologies for late response. Here is an update:
Got about 6000 km up on it, but a few modifications along the way.

• I found after about 3 hrs on the SRL saddle it became uncomfortable (my typical rides are 5-6 hrs). Decided to try Tune Speedneedle Marathon and Cappy. Very happy with them, and a lighter bike. Saddle fitting and shapes are personal!
• Wheels were problematic. The geometry of the Soul rear hub can expose the NDS spokes to compression and ultimately failure. I experienced this with 3 spokes failing half way through a 130 km ride ... DNF ... not happy. After discussion with Sean (nice guy) from Soul, I decided to rebuild the rear wheel myself. Sean sent me new NDS spokes, also to strengthen/stiffen the wheel, the DS spokes were replaced with Sapim Race. These combined to stop the NDS spokes breaking. Then the pawl spring in the rear hub failed. While Sean quickly sent me 2 replacements, I had had enough unreliability and a different wheelset was needed. I felt I had sufficient knowledge to build my own wheelset using Stan's Alpha, Sapim CX-Ray and Dati. The build went well, currently have over 2000 km on them and no issues to date. From now on intend building my own. Two upsides from this saga: I can now build wheels and a lighter bike.
• Christmas present to myself ... Zipp SL S&S bar and Extralite stem. Did not need them but why not. Two upsides: the Zipp bars adsorb more road vibration and ... a lighter bike.

The bike is around 6.0 kg now.
Can't wait to get on it tomorrow and push some more km's.

Time for another update after 15000 km:

• After some long steep alpine descents, lost confidence with the Planet X brakes as well as the constant issues with centering. Installed dual pivot KCNC C7 brakes, much better, not going back to single pivot.
• The Dati/Stan's wheelset was good up until around 7000 km when the bearing in the Dati freehub collapsed. Needed to replace the whole freehub. Still have them but they are now a #2 set. Built #1 set, Tune, Farsports (http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=87659&p=960335#p960335), going well to date.
• After normal wear, replaced SRAM OG 1090 cassette with XG 1090, a big improvement. Based on that slowly replaced fd, crank, etc when specials prevailed. Now have a full Red 2012 drivetrain, didn't need to but now lighter and better gear changes.

nice bike! interesting to see top shelf parts on a cheap (relatively speaking) frame. if that had a [insert famous maker name here] logo on it it would probably be 3x as much, eh? again, very nice build. amazingly flat transition from stem/bar/hoods. looks like it's asking you to just plop your arms on there and put the head down, hammer away.

very nice bike. i like the unspectacular, clean look of the frameset!
what about the wheelset? stiff enough? reminds me of the reynolds kom/tune-wheelset (962 gramm) i used for several marathons. caused many problems, didnt get happy with it, despite my moderate weight of 61 kg.
now i am using heavier, more stable wheelsets again (mavic r-sys, kinlin tb 25/tune, fulcrum rs..)

Wheel build was:
Front: Farsports FSL24-TM rim, Tune Mig70, 20 spokes, Sapim CX-Ray radial, alloy nips
Rear: Farsports FSL24-TM rim, Tune Mag170, 24 spokes, DS: Sapim Race x2, NDS: Sapim CX-Ray x2, alloy nips
Weight came in at f410g + r554g = 964g
I have found no issues with the wheelset after close to 2000 km. No brake rub when climbing [30,000 m], braking with Reynolds Blue pads is good, no squealing, no pulsing. My weight is 78 kg.

thats good! probably the rims are more stable than my reynolds kom have been. i had no problems with pulsing either, but the rear-wheel had to be centred all 1000-1500 km (nips inside of the rim!). then a spoke broke and the rim was damaged....i had no luck with those wheels.
yours seem to work better, i wish you the best with this beautiful wheelset.

Thanks jz4nyc. I have not straddled a Crumpton, Parlee, etc, I am sure they are great to ride, but as you stated the overall cost would rise substantially. Very happy with the Pedal Force CG1, no issues to date.

That bicycle looks fantastic, with a nice set of components to boot. Seems like every piece has been kissed by some sort of glossy black carbon, very nice.
