Hi all,
My fizik antares is somewhat torn up along the side from a small incident on the road. Im thinking of trying to tear it down, redo the cover and maybe remove padding to save some weight but was wondering if anyone knew anything about tearing this down or had good material replacement suggestions etc. I can't seem to find anything online.

thanks!

Hi,

I'd consider trying a repair service if you like the saddle, aren't too handy or don't have the time, or want to go for a custom look. Depending on how you spec the new cover, it could be a real complement to your bike's color palette.

You might even come out ahead compared to the cost of buying new, and Captain Planet would give you a green thumbs up for re-use/recycling.

There are a few saddle repair/custom cover specialists around, but I noticed that this guy has worked on several Fizik models in the past: http://www.recoveredsaddle.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Has anyone here used his services?

EVA foam for the padding and your choice of leather or synthetic (alcantara) for the covering material. Bond using ADOS F2 or similar contact adhesive. It's not a hard job.
Updated: Racing again! Thought this was unlikely! Eventually, I may even have a decent race!
Edit: 2015: darn near won the best South Island series (got second in age
-group)..woo hoo Racy Theremery is back!!

I'm riding a specialized saddle right now because I liked the Antares a lot but I really felt the need for a cut out. I'm actually considering trying to mod the Antares and give it a cut-out now if I'm going to be tearing it up.
