i have been thru loads of threads & still cannot decide.

current set up is.

sram red 2011 levers
sram red 2011 fr.der (ti cage)
sram red 2013 rear der.

the new rear is a marked improvement but i still feel front der is the weak link.

im using rotor3d with 50/38 ct2 rings.

when i had 7800 front der shifting was better...much better..

that is now on partners bike

options now

sram yaw 2013 - is this 100% with older levers
another NOS 7800
NOS campag record..prefer not to do this
TISO..anyone comment on these
or SRAM RED/black with steel cage

or suggestions please..

my winter bike with rival front der & 105STIs is far superior even on compact kcnc rings..

I personally run the 7800 FD wit the same levers, the new SRAM red will work also much more so than your current setup but if you don't have the crank to go with it get the 7800 if you can find it

personally i'm happy with the old ti red fd, mine shifts fast/well (53/39 red chainset), i did notice it got a lot better when i replaced the original sram/gore cables with nokon/powercordz

i am running ilinks on all bikes & happy with them.
the old red just feels delayed like its scrabbling as it climbs up..

anyone using red/black with steel cage?

the new YAW FD works amazingly well with old or new SRAM. i used the YAW FD with 2011 Red for 6 months, and loved it (and i am a finnicky bastage)

I'm running the Red Black steel cage FD on the wifey's bike. Never ran a Ti version, so have no direct comparison, but it shifts great on the stand and for me around our court and I get no complaints from her. She's running SRAM compact rings on a Quarq. You can find the FD super cheap right now too.

I run the 2011 with yaw FD, works fine. Also have the force FD with 2011 red on other bike. Also works well. Have run 7800 with 2011 red - also worked well. I find chaincrossing is best with the yaw, force 2nd, 7800 gives most crossover rub setup as optimally as possible. All are a vast improvement over 2011 red FD. Haven't tried 2011 red steel FD, i imagine it to be exactly the same as force, but marginally lighter. Should also mention I ran all setups with q rings.

I am also running the yaw front with the 2011 red black and it rubs a tiny bit, but it's worth it in comparison to the ti front D. I believe if I switched to the exogram crank the rub would be gone.

Your not going to get much of an improvement with the rear derailluer unless your running big rings in the rear.

Either a Force FD or 7800 FD is the way to go

picked up a red black with steel cage for a song..

chalk & cheese..wish id done it before...even on the stand its better.

Tried searching but couldn't find the answer that I wanted. So i thought my fellow WW to see if they know the answer, and decided to post my question here in this thread regarding the Yaw front derailleur.

I recently acquired a new Yaw front derailleur, but it didn't come with the stock Sram chain catcher. Can I use any generic chain catcher, or do I have to use the Sram chain catcher?
