Hey guys, Ive got myself a pass to purchase another set of tubulars from the CFO :lol:

Im tossing up between

Fulcrum Racing XLR 2012
http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/bike_acc ... /102099743" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and

Cosmic Carbone Ultimate 2010
http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/bike_acc ... /102212749" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I do have a set of Bora Ultra 2's atm, and they are fantastic tubulars ! Given your choices, which would you pick? Really after the quality of the ride. Or would you recommend something else? Although I do have the approval, Im not trying to stretch it by too much from 2500. ;)

Much appreciated :beerchug:

PS: After Carbon tubulars, preferably to stay away from Exalith surface as I am simply too lazy to change brake pads ;)

Fulcrum XLR is actually the same wheels with Bora ultra 2. So you may try Mavic instead which is a full carbon wheelset.

+1 on the Mavic CCU. Tough wheelset and relatively stiff.

I had bora ultra two but sold them after starting to ride HED Stinger 6. Paired with 22 or 25mm Continentals they ride like a Cadillac and braking is outstanding. As much I liked my boras, I sold both sets since I only rode the Stingers.

Of those two I would take the Mavic.

If it were one or the other, I'd go Mavics.

Keep in mind, though, it would be easy to build a lighter wheelset than either of those.

Are you keeping the Boras? If so, why not go with something different, either real aero or real light?

Mavic was indeed my 1st choice amongst the 2, but my mates has been convincing me to get the enve 3.4 with Chris king hubs . I have heard/read rave reviews, but have yet to see one myself . Is there such a warrant for a 1.5k$ top up for a 3.4 ses w/ Chris king hubs over a Mavuc CCU from 2012? Thanks :smartass:

@stang- The Enve/CK build would get you a 5 year warranty on both the rims and hubs. Yeah, they are pretty darn spendy, but they are extremely durable, and they have the best braking that I've seen on a carbon clincher.

Zipp? 303 / 404 depending on your circumstances? Chain Reaction has the 2012 models at about 35% off right now.

Enve with Chris King is a strong hand tho...

I've worked out my options:

1) Quotes from wheelbuilding from USA, 3.4 ses with CK hubs, after tax and import duties, it'll cost me 3.5k AUD

2) Mavic CCU is 3.5k AUD after tax and imports from CRC.

Supposedly, both are excellent choices, toss a coin? :shock:

Why not try the 404 with CK hubs.
