Hi
I have a Specialiced Epic 2013 29 2013, and i think the weight of this bike is around 12,4 Kg.
I would like to get this down a bit without spending a lot of money. As an example I am not interested in spending £100 on the stem just to get 50g off.

I am thinking new wheelset af the first thing to upgrade. I have heard that the standard wheelset is around 2100g. I am thinking in getting a set of American Classic race, whitch I have read is good value for the money? What do you think? I weigh 70 kg and should be in the good range for the wheels.

How would you do it (In what order would you replace components)?
Would you start by replacing another thing?
What would you say is a good deal g vs. money to replace?

I am not sure what all the components weight, but I know this:
Stem: 112g
Seatpost: 270g
Seat: 277g
Se more here:

I have tubeless setup.

your stem must be very short if it weighs 112 g ; sub 120 g for a 110mm is considered to be light

wheels, tyres and inner tubes/rimm tape if fitted - is all rotating mass so you will benefit. then disc brake rotors and ti rotor bolts.

saddle - you can go to 160g quite cheaply
seatpost 220g or less quite cheaply
chainset.

On my stumpjumper
Saddle and post from standard to Thomson masterpiece and phenom pro saved ~ 300g
Wheels from roval to hope hoops saved ~ 500g
Cranks from standard junk to XX1 Saved ~ 300g

Every thing else saved 10s of grams besides losing the front mech and shifter going to 1x11

I have the 2012 version, and your best dollar/gram saved is going to be in wheels. It has been covered in a few different threads in the Speci forum on mtbr if you're looking for options. I went with Stan's crests with their standard hubs, tubeless and it was about a 1.5lb+ weight savings versus the stock setup with tubes. The next biggest weight suck on that bike (from my research is the cassette), although expensive to replace with something like xx or xtr, the stock pg-1030 in 11-36 that came on mine is listed around 395g!

It is born with Cassette Sram PG 1030 (X5) - weight 395g http://www.bikesonline.com/sram-pg-1030 ... ssette.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Put a Recon cassette on - 140g http://r2-bike.com/MTB-Aluminium-Kasset ... 1-32-34-36" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

minus 250g!!! and also cheap.... I do not know, maybe it will ready for replace in no time???

I'd go with upgrading the wheels first.

I've got the 2013 Epic Carbon Comp which has the same wheels as yours. The standard Roval wheels weighed 958g front and 1178g rear on mine.
The replacement Hope Hoops with Stans Crest rims weighed in at 781g front and 918g rear saving 437g.

If you're in the UK, there's some discount codes floating about for Wiggle which offer £50 off a £300 spend. If you use this you'll be getting the wheels for £250 and I can't imagine a much bigger weight saving for that outlay. As a side note, my Epic also feels a lot better to ride with the lighter wheels fitted.

You can save probably 180g by getting an 11-36 xx cassette, which weight around 206g
