Bont shoes
Moderator: robbosmans
I was looking at their spare parts online store and found that they have some "slim-line" buckles alongside their standard buckle kit. They claim they're not compatible but it looks to me as if they would be... anyone know anything about why not/why they might be?

They are the same as sidi straps
I put these on my vaypors but I had to modify the strap with an xacto. Thankfully I had some extra straps as well because I slipped the first time and killed the strap.

So the Sidi clips are compatible with Bont straps?

The sidi buckle Only works with the new slimline strap.
Just get the complete set of buckles and straps and then modify the straps to go in the holders on the shoe.

Do you know what bucke/strap kit is lighter?
Great informative thread. After a decade and a half on Sidis and two seasons on Speedplay specific DMTs my black Vaypors should arrive today. Will use adapter plates. Am using insoles moulded after my feet and plan to get them int the Vaypors too. We'll see how it goes.
Hopefully they work well for you. They put a smile on my face every time I put them on before riding. I suggests to heat mold them twice (heat and fully cool) before mounting the cleats then ride for a weekend or week and then remove the cleats and heat one more time after they are broken in. Also be careful not to over heat them as the oven thermometer isn't always that accurate.
looks as there have updated the vaypor http://shop.bontcycling.com/collections ... cts/vaypor

Zero+ = zero with boa (and dimples )
Zero+ gains weight over regular Zero (190g vs. 170g)
Vaypor+ loses weight over regular Vaypor (225g vs. 240g)

Probably not the best place to ask but anyone have a pair of vaypors in 42 then are looking to unload? Wearing a 42.5 right now now and want a bit more tight fit

Short (not!) update. Shoes arrived. Correct size lengtwise, all good. My custom footbeds (I'm pes cavus) fit after a bit of filing (them old DMTs certaily were not bathtubs).
Of course the shoes had the customary QC glitch, in my pair's case the screw on the right shoe toe protector had not engaged the nut. Spent a bit of time cleaning out the hole to get proper engagement and all good.
Baked them for 20 minutes @60C, put them on, and already the hot spot just under the buckle was gone (back in my Sidi days that never ceased to be a problem).
Found that I needed more lateral space for my right big toe so when I baked them the second time I blocked the area out. I put them on again and that glove feeling is coming along nicely, thank you.
Ended up using the 1-R shim and Extra Shim in the front between the shoe and the Speedplay 3-hole adapter. Fingers crossed that my Zero Ti axles are long enough. Test flight tomorrow night.

In light of the recent BOA-clasp vaypor+... how crazy do you think it would be to mod some older shoe (I have a CTT-1) to use this new clasping mechanism? I feel like it shouldn't be too difficult to do if I could get my hands on some of those boa clasps...

Hey can anyone comment on the fit of the vaypors vs the A2 or A3 shoes? Im looking to get some vaypors and am currently wearing a 42.5 in the A2's. Basically im wondering if the sizing and fit is roughly the same where it would be safe to get the same size.
Thanks!
Thanks!
