Looking for a post that's slightly lighter than the current used Thomson, it's for a carbon 29er superfly (hardtail), i'm 176lbs, 6ft4 and all legs, frame is an XL, the current post is sticking out for about 11" and the bike is used for XC.

looking at the listings on this site, the 27.2/400 is a tough nut to crack, weightwise.

I was leaning towards the Fizik carbon cyrano, but couldn't find any details on the durability of this post. Doesn't need to be carbon, the bike itself, being an XL frame is forgiving.

I'm looking at a reasonable responsible weightsaving, i prever carying a tad more weight, having the certainty of remaining a happy fertile guy

Cannondale Save seatpost. 420 mm long 237 grams (actual) and ride like butter.

The Syntace Hiflex is lighter than the SAVE. Neither one of them is what I'd consider light. Both seem durable.
I think the Fizik is the post that fell apart at the Olympics.

Other light posts worth checking out - Rotor, KCNC (not so durable according to other people), MCFK (very light, very expensive), New Ultimate.

You can also get a Thomson Masterpiece and switch the cradle and bolts for a few grams difference.

The strength of the SAve is the ride.

I've read several not so great stories on the KCNC.

Indeed, some googling showed it was the cyrano carbon.
perhaps the cyrano in aluminum. It looks great, IMO
The rotor has got a cheapish look? (that semi-matte blasted look)
the longest masterpiece is 350mm
the save in 27.2x420 is kind of a pig, at 268g

Apparently, Cannondale changed the SAVE post. They used to have the USE top on them and weigh less. Glad I have 4 of the old style before they changed them.

I have been happy with my Woodman seatpost. Used it for about a year without a problem. I believe it was around 150 gram

I'm assuming carbon at that weight but they make quite a few different carbon and aluminum versions.

I'm running a Crank Brothers Cobalt 11 (180gr, 400mm/27.2 length 20mm setback) on my XL Ti Bike. Marathon and XC Racing with 187lbs... forgiving but not to flexy. No issues since 18 month usage. A Thomson masterpiece with carbon cradle an ti bolts should be ~160gr. My 31.6/350 is 157gr.

Hi, i have kcnc seatpost 27.2mmx400mm 151gr, i am riding it for 3years now without any issues, and my weight is 85kg,

I checked on the Woodman website and it was the Woodman Carbo EL and they claim 128,5 gram. I noticed they changed the carbon cradle for a alu one. I sanded the ugly logo's of. I'm 80 kilo and the seatpost was used on a fully.

I have had a moots post in my mtb for the last 10 years, same post differnt bikes.erikson will make you a post in custom lenght. Other than that i would go syntace p6! Bought post are comfy

the best ratio price/value on my opinion is for KCNC ti-pro...

..around 150 g. for about 100 euros..

Rotor is a bit heavier, a bit cheaper and has a better mounting head.

I'll second the New Ultimate Carbon post. (The alloy one is a bit flexy, so I will recommend the carbon one).
I have the new Evo on my 29" and it's great! It has taken some beating and never failed. It is about as light as the much more expensive posts from AX, Schmolke and mcfk, and the Evo has an amazing UD finish.
