What sort of shop would even allow someone to acquire that many spacers?

Actually it seems pretty common for tri. In contrast, roadies seem to have a flatter back on regular road bikes.

The thing I don't understand, is why pick the Argon18 if you can't get anywhere near your preferred position without some crazy mods? It's not as if we're talking a budget commuter bike with a weird stem here.

There are plenty of other TT bikes out there, even with 'integrated' front ends that could be set up like that without modification.

No pictures unfortunately. Last night on my way home I saw a flat bar commuter with not one but two stems!

Bottom stem was running a shallow drop bar (with mirror attached naturally) and the stem above was running the original flat bars!

I have been staring at this bike trying to figure out the brake routing. I'm pretty sure that this wasn't covered by the patent on 'dual control levers'.

Terrifying.
