turned out really nice
love the gloss and "all in black"
now you just have to get some black wheels as well :)

Amazed how much better this finish (and design) looks compared to the original. I had the exact same frame as you many years ago, and it never looked nearly that good. Did you do the clear-coating yourself? It looks fantastic. And nice job with the decals: easy to read what bike it is, but you kind of have to look to see it... nice and subtle.

The clear was actually the most difficult part of this build. I sanded it all myself but originally took the frame to a local auto paint shop to have them clear it. Well, they didn't know what they were doing I dont guess because the clear didnt adhere properly and started to peel off...I was NOT HAPPY to have to sand the whole frame a second time. I ended up taking it to a local guy who has his own custom bike building company here in Chattanooga, TN (http://silentcycles.com) He took excellent care of the frame and I ended up having him paint the drop outs/cable guides as well to really black it out. He also painted the decal. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. All I have left to do is get a good set of carbon wheels as soon as I find a few grand laying around...lol.

really nice,

the finish is perfect, better than mine (also stripped my 5220, but did the clear myself)

This bike is now ready for some more riding years!!
