But I take this opportunity to congratulate Shimano to its 91st birthday .Shimano was founded in February 1921.
BTW: Campagnolo was founded in 1933 and Sram 1987.

Shimano was founded in 1921 to make fishing rods, Campy got right into the arena from the get go with the 1933 QR lever. By the 1970's, Shimano had caught up.

From some sources we learn that Shozaburo Shimano who founded Shimano Iron Works began with the production of the bicycle freewheel in 1921. I know about the further development and who did what and when but the registration at the Japanese Chamber of Industry indicates a production of "bicycle equipment" when founded as a private company.
