sram red xg 1090 11-26 or 11-28

Guys i have a question, my stupid lbs ordered me the wrong size sram cassette. Instead of 11-26 they ordered 11-28
I ride mostly flats with little elevations, and my crank is standard not compact.
Should i keep it or shud i wait for 11-26? Are they much difference? Thankyou

Your lowest end (hardest) gear ratio is still the same, only difference is that you will find your riding lower down the cassette more frequently than with the 11-26.
Consider 12-23 cassettes if you really don't climb that much.

No reason for anything higher than 23 if no serious hills are around. have them get you 23 or 25b as you originally ordered

11-26 : 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 26
11-28 : 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 22, 25, 28
The big difference is when running in the biggest three cogs (bigger jumps between gears). If you are running in those gears frequently, then yes, there is a difference. If not, just go with what you've got.

28 is heavier. My vote is 11-23 or 12-25.
Get the one you wanted. I live for climbing and hit up mountains multiple times a week and kicked myself when I had a 28 as I never used it (non-compact 53-39 up front). I have the 11-26 now and even now the 26 rarely gets dirty except on stuff like this.

If you ride mostly flat, go with 11/23. Gives you the least amount of change between shifts and allows you to dial in your cadence better. 11/27 is really reserved for at least some elevation. I'd switch it out for sure to 11/25 at the least but would rather go 11/23.
Compacts and wide ratio cassettes are unnecessary for almost all regularly ridden terrain. An 11-26 with a 39 gives you plenty of gearing for the slopes.

It depends on where you live and what you ride. In any case, "conventional" cranks are equally unnecessary. For most terrain either can work. For super-steep stuff compact is nice, especially if you don't feel like riding super-hard (like during my commute home from the train, which peaks @ 24%). But even that I can do 38/28 without too much worry.

I would stick with the 11-26. I didn't need to move to a 28 until I began training for serious climbing. The 11-26 has a much more natural spacing too, to me. I've considered moving back to one ... now that I'm stronger.

The jump between the 19 and 22 tooth cogs on the SRAM 11-28 cassettes is really annoying. I stopped using the cassette after about 2000 kms because I couldn't handle the spacing anymore - I was often wanting something between those two. I'd therefore only consider the 11-26.
If anyone does need an 11-28 cassette, then go with a Shimano cassette instead of SRAM. The Shimanos have 19-21-24-28 as the biggest four cogs instead of 19-22-25-28 on the SRAMs. However, I now prefer a 12-28, with 19-21-23-25-28 at the top in exchange for not having the 11 tooth (just learn to spin at a higher cadence, and you won't need the 11).
