So all in all I would say these bottle cages are a great product!! They sell for $65 at FairWheel Bikes...so aren't super cheap but I feel a good value. They look sweet on the bike too! You can get them in natural carbon or white....very simple and sexy looking. Time will tell on durability, so i will update this review throughout the season. I will more than likely use alloy bolts to save a few grams and these cages will stay on my bikes! On a side note....I used the older designed New Ultimate cages until i got these and I must say it is night and day! The new cages are far superior to the old ones, I couldn't use the older ones on a MTB bike. The bottle would fly out on every big bump!!
I do not care if FWB sells those for even over 100 bucks but decided to buy no name Chinese cages for 10.50 pcs recently which included shipping. They came in at 15gr-pcs and with some decent drilling avoiding reducing of the clamp force of the cage I have ended up with 12.5gr per cage.IMO now sanded to black matte black they look sexy ,too.
Considering there is no need for ultimate "western engineering know-how" when it comes to cages I do not get it what brings people to that point of not only purchasing "a not super cheap" product but an exorbitant expensive one? "sexy looking"? why pay so much for same quality sex?
If it is Elite or Arundel or New Ultimate. All these brands carbon cages are available from Chinese manufacturers for approx 11 bucks a piece for the end customer.
Known brands buy from China for 5 bucks and put some graphics onto it and sell for
.... ending up with 65 bucks plus shipping
I know we had this discussion before.
Therefore it is not a surprise that there are a bunch of people out there who find reviews like this as part of the marketing job.
