172.5 53/39 weight is disappointing. sram exogram with aftermarket chainrings is lighter

What chainrings? Extralite?

Early SRAM Force rings were extremely light, but none of the pro riders would use them. That's why SRAM beefed them up.

I think you need to compare chainrings of comparable stiffness.

My 170mm Exogram cranks with 53/39 Praxis rings are 500g - that's everything except the BB.

For those of you complaining about lack of power meter options:

How about this.

Cheaper (than quarq, powertap or srm), Lighter in an of itself, and you can still use the super light spidering. (double savings)

I think that for hollowgram or shimano crank users, this may be the best new power measuring option.

It is unfortunate that it is limited to aluminum cranks, but if you have a hollowgram (lighter than most carbon cranks) then who cares.

Throwing gas on the fire, Are you sure KWalker? One test doesn't really prove anything. One of the guys at Slowtwitch says it is good and he will show his data will show that.

DC could have had a defective unit, damaged in shipping????, no cadence when not clipped in to the pedal sounds like something was wrong...

Problems with Stages: (1) cadence measurement doesn't work so well. That directly affects power. (2) Nobody pedals with completely constant 50-50 L-R pedal balance. That's well documented. So doubling L leg power is doomed to failure. There's nothing about "potentially defective units" involved -- it's a fundamental problem.

Make such a statement based on one review is worthless. Even DCRainmaker indicated that most of the "issues" he saw could be fixed based on firmware updates.

If they get the cadence issues figured out I think they will be fine. Is it going to be SRM accurate? Hell no! Is it going to be accurate enough to use a training tool? Definitely, unless you have some grotesque deformity that causes a major power imbalance. I preordered the SISL2 model, and the expected ship date is late April so I'm guessing May.

Your left/right power discrepancy doesn't matter.

Consistency is what matters.

If it reads 10% lower than what a SRM says that only matters when you're trying to brag to your friends.

Its not just DC Rainmaker, but if you check all the files released from rides they all show the same problems. Maybe not worthless, but a relatively poor way to measure power.

Why cut corners and pay $900+ for something that doesn't do its job when many other options are barely more money new and definitely cheaper used.

I just got some new SISL2 cranks and when I applied some clear protectors to the crankarms from the Cannondale dealer. The protectors where a little too big so I pulled it up a bit to cut it down and they pulled up some anodization which makes it look like little flecks of silver are all over it. Hopefully this is just a problem with the anodization on one set and doesn't suggest a bigger problem.

It's probably inclusions in the aluminum used. I have seen much worse examples, but in any case I would get those warranted.
