Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can think of anything conversion kit out there to take a BB86 shell and convert it to use an ISIS BB.

I know FSA make an adaptor that takes you from BB30 to English 68.

I've got a Scott Foil with BB86 shell and was wondering if I could fit a Stronglight Pulsation on it.

cheers

ISIS was just the reference to the axel, so if the threads on the ISIS cartridge BB are English 68, which most were in my experience, then it should work with that adaptor

sorry no can do. you have a basic dimensional problem.

BB86 refers to the shell width - 86mm.

Isis or any cartridge type BB is designed to fit with a "conventional" BB shell width of 68-70mm. If you dummied it up with an Isis BB loose you'd find the cranks seizing on the BB shell long before they were tight.

There's sometimes a buggy.
How many drivers does a buggy have?

One.

So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...
and if you fix your attitude you can ride along with me.

Stronglight Pulsion is a 24mm integrated axle type crank, and it has to go into a 68/70mm threaded traditional style BB shell, or a larger BB shell that has adapters fitted. If your frame was BB30 then there are adapters to make your Pulsion fit, but this is not the case with BB86. The BB shell is simply too wide.

The term ISIS is just the name to describe the spline where the LH crank fits onto the axle of your Pulsion crankset. ISIS cartridge bottom brackets were something else.

Opps, on the first pass, I thought this was discussing BB30 to BSA 68.
BB86 presents a problem indeed. Good catch, bikerjulio

On my first pass it was my assumption that Stronglight Pulsion could not be used with BB86, but the Stronglight standard is not that different from Hollowtech II. To use Htech II with BB86 you need something like this: http://www.bikebling.com/Shimano-HT2-BB ... essfit.htm I am not sure whether Stronglight are yet making such a BB.

If Htech II can be used with BB86, a fix to allow the use of your Stronglight crankset with BB86 is maybe not far away. But I doubt that Slight will work with a Shimano BB86 BB .... but maybe worth a try if you are fitting one anyway.

Stronglight do make BB86 bottom brackets, but they seem to omly be compatible with their BB30 cranksets and not their 24mm cranksets (Pulsion and Fission): http://www.xxcycle.com/bearing-pressfit ... 92,,en.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was assuming that OP had an older style Isis crankset and BB like this image. Is there another style?

I was assuming Pulsion was integrated axle, like the Fission that I use. I must be wrong.

yes i was considering the Stronglight Pulsion but it looks like you can't get it to work with BB86.

I'm just looking at my options to replace a 7950 crankset. Pulsion would have been a good cheap weenie option if it worked.

Any other ideas anyone?
