If you can't get your money back I would get in touch with a carbon specialist firm and see what they think. See if they could do a repair. That sort of repair shouldn't be expensive.

A problem you have is you don't know for sure what caused the damage. If it's crash damage chances are the bar is not repairable and you'll have to bin it. Like with forks you generally don't repair crash damaged bars. The carbon specialist firm may be able to tell from an inspection how the damage was caused.

Revision: Having read the seller's comments I take back the 'money back' comment. I am not a judge but I agree that as the buyer didn't raise the issue within say a week he has no right to complain. It does make you wonder big time if the complaint is legitinate.

I'd try Calfee repair service.

It will gain a bit of mass, however.

Not sure where you are but I would contact Berk (he is a member on here and has a thread over in the Intro section) He has done wonders with carbon repair and is definitely worth asking! I'm pretty sure he is in Poland though.
Cannondale Synapse (alu)...it works

I'm sorry i know this is not the place but i've got to clear this sh*t out. I'm aware that i should resolve any issue privately but this guy (minimini ) is a crook!! The handlebar was definitely not in that condition as you can see in my thread. ''Overtorque cracks''??? Are you freaking serious man?? Just so you know i torque everything with an Effetto Mariposa wrench....you probably damaged the bar yourself by not using a torque wrench or by overtightening and decided to blame it on me correct??

What is surprising is i sold the handlebar to that guy (minimini) on December 17 and from what i can see on USPS website it was delivered on December 26 .....a month later he ask me a full refund due to some supposed cracks. You never mounted the handlebar after almost a month...really!?! That douche opened a paypal claim this morning requesting a full refund...not only that but he listed this for sale as well (trying to rip me off and make some extra bucks). Just be aware of this guy!

I am no carbon expert but from the looks I'd say the bar is shot. i am sure you could repair it, but the cost of repairing it vs. the remaining value (come on, a repaired and heavier Schmolke bar?) may not be worth it.

Now re the details of the trade, generally the buyer should inspect and raise issues shortly after receiving it, otherwise it becomes difficult for everyone.

I see it this way :

You buy a USED good that is fragile and expensive, for sure when you receive the item, you will double-check it and carefully inspect it, especially if it is a carbon handlebar.

The guy waited a full month before he notice those cracks?!? 1 full month and never mounted?! Sure...i believe you

I bought my Cannondale fork and an Ax saddle from Yutah and I can tell you that everything went perfectly well.

It looks like the damage is fairly localized. It seems you could preserve at least 80% of the weight savings. But I don't know.

Good for you Yutah. Need to weed out people like this. For FYI purposes, I take a lot of pictures of items I sell before sending out so that I have some visual documentation. That way when some a**hole like this comes along, I pull out my pics and say "funny, not how I sent you the item muthaf*cka!"

Wcl4, no worries i took a bunch of pictures of the item before i shipped it (always did). I don't know if i should post his (minimini) full name and the address where i shipped the handlebar to so other people won't be screw over just like he did to me. Luckily, i didn't get scam for more than $215 (which is still a good amount of money). This low life punk should be banned from this community.

I've been a WW member for many years now and every single member who bought stuff from me was happy with the product. I always buy exotic stuff brand new from FWB and R2-Bike...they know me pretty well and can vouch for me as a buyer and seller. I always have some crazy bike projects during the off season (5 month winter here in Canada) and ride them for a season or two before i sell them (except for my main road and MTB bike). Parts, bikes come and go so they never get used a lot. My last bike project was a Cannondale Hooligan 2012 (as you can see in the pictures below next to my main MTB). I build that bike up last May and rode it only a few times (less than 80km). It was used so rarely that i put it up for sale in august or september. Sold it with all the stock parts. All of the upgraded parts were removed and i listed most of them here a month ago. That being said, i'm no stranger to exotic parts like AX-Lightness, Schmolke, MCFK, Dash, Tune...so by accusing me of not knowing how to properly install a carbon fiber handlebar or by overtorquing or not using a torque wrench is a complete non-sense.

Here's some pictures of the handlebar before i shipped to that scammer:

Effetto Mariposa wrenches are notorious for cracking components. If you bought one because all the blogs and review sites gave the wrench glowing reviews, you were deceived. All those glowing reviews that appeared around the same time saying the same thing were likely bought.

Really? Never heard any issue about it. I've been using it for years and never had any problems. Like it so much that i got the new version (Giustaforza II) in august. Anyways, I never reach the maximum torque value.

Every time I read about someone breaking something and they say, "But I used a torque wrench!" an Effetto Mariposa is involved. So they're either really popular or don't work very well as you'd expect from a mechanical torque wrench. Some people report that mechanical torque wrenches are banned at their workplaces (nuclear power plants, aircraft hangars, etc.).
