I am running mine on my new trek superfly. I am running it 1*10. I had the original SRAM 10spd chain on but I cut it too short. So I went with the 11spd chain. I am also running a shimano 12-36 cass and it shifts awesome. Just as good as the reps 11spd did. I am super impressed.

Guys have been messing with all kinds of mixed set ups on the mtbr forum. I haven't read any complaints yet. I'll probably get it for my bike in March.

Haven't heard about spider for XOs, but probably he's making some too, depending on the demand.

With the extra high tension on the rear derrailuer would it cause more drivetrain efficiency loss?

Probably... and with excessive cross-chain (not sure of this term) too. But think of the time and momentum you save having not to shift gears up front.

Cross chaining doesnt increase friction that much. Neither does lack of lubrication! Increases wear, that's the issue. bigger friction increase when in the smaller cogs.

Believe it or not. The chain angle is not that great. The chain makes no cross chain noises when in the little or big cog.

Even much better! Thanks for that info! I just have so many spare parts that I should just use them on my training bike than buy anything new because it's "in." I'm always tempted to buy the latest parts, thinking I would go back to racing and gets postponed everytime (being too busy to train, ut this year was due to an accident), even though I have parts that I haven't even used yet... maybe I should start posting in the "For Sale" section.

Exactly. There's no cross chain issue because there's only one ring. It's like riding in your middle ring and using the whole cassette. There's no issue with that.

and Sram has a coating on the XX1 chain which they say makes the chain last longer than their other chains. Eventually they are going to put the coating on their other chains.

Interesting about the coating. I recall having read somewhere that the KMC DLC coated chains eat more cog, which is a high price to pay.

Guys have only been riding on XX1 for about a month or two so the jury is still out on longevity.
