Well it's almost a week ago i talked to Mavic DK. The promised that they would call me up the next day with delivery date and exchange of the old wheelset. Nothing happened. Wrote them two days ago to hear, when they would call me. They say'd yesterday. Nothing happened. They haven't called me today. Is this usual business for Mavic? Getting pretty tired of them constantly pushing me away, when the already have told me, that they would replace my wheelset.

I hate it so much when people do that. "I'll call you back tomorrow" and they do nothing. That drives me nuts.

But hey, it's not like you'd spent 1000 usd + on a wheelset no? I'm sure you don't expect a decent customer service for that price, don't you

I feel your pain, really. I've experienced the same a few years back with a pair of cosmic carbones.

Mavic should take charge of this situation. Granted the exalith coating isn't designed to remain, it will wear away, but not after one ride when using their own specific pads!

Really bad customer service and you bought their top end alloy wheels... it's not like it was a set of aksium race's, but even if it was, Mavic should still rectify the problems!

Keep us posted... It may be worth e-mailing Mavic in France with a link to this thread to show them how damaging this is to their already loose reputation!!!???

Talked with Mavic DK today.
They are replacing my rear rim. Just the rim. They say as long as Mavic proclaime that you can drive over 2000 k's on them and the Exalith won't come off. They will be replacing the rims. After a month i talk to the guy in charge of Mavic DK. Non of the other guys had the balls to promise me anything. So... I'm shipping my rear wheel to day and hoping for the best.

Funny, it's almost the same story as mine. My rear cosmic carbone rim had broken, for no reason. They didn't want to replace the whole wheel, but they just changed the rim.

One month later, going downhill at about 50 km/h, their brand new rim broke

Since then the pair of wheels sits in my basement. It's been sitting their from... 2005 !

Gotta love Mavic.

So this is where i stand.

Mavic DK told me they would pick up my wheel last monday. Nothing so far.
Meanwhile a guy saw my bike and wanted to buy it. With wheels. So... he bought the whole bike, with all the history that comes with the wheels. He is happy, but i still want to talk to Mavic DK. But now, they don't want to talk to me. They don't know that the bike is sold, but the just don't want to have anything to do with me or the wheel.

This is such a bad customer policy! All you can do, is continue calling them.

You could say. Why call when the wheels are gone, but i just can't let them get away with this.

All I hear is bad news about these Mavic wheels, even my local shop said i wouldn't sell you them. Its a shame because back in the day when pretty all you could do was choose a rim, spokes & hub to be built up. Mavic was my go to brand. The original GP4s and blues where built proof (Greys where out my price band back then)

I stick to what has served me well since the new fangled pre-built wheel era came in. Must have bought 10 pairs of Campag wheels from base training wheels to BoraU2/Hyperons, none have ever let me down or even needed attention

...had three pairs of Zipps all let me down.

If your local shop said they wouldnt sell you them I would find a new shop, thats disgusting advice from a bike shop, I use cosmics with these rims and they are excellent and the brake performance is the best on the market today, there is no way these rims are showing signs of wear or faliure.

I can only suspect the OP is all the gear no idea and running the wrong pads.

Hi guys.

Yes, there are news. Sad ones.

Mavic DK never showed up to collect the damaged wheels. They called me to tell me that they had send a currier to pic them up, but nothing happend. I called them for 3 weeks. Each time, they promised me they would pic them up. They called after 1 1/2 month to tell that they couldn't help. Mind you. This is the head of Mavic DK calling. So... After a long struggle. The wheels are gonna stay damaged.

Thanks a lot Mavic.

I've seen loads of these wheels lose the coating. It's only a matter of time. They are hugely overpriced junk. Just wait TrekUK first the rear wheel will go, probably during a wet ride, then you notice spot son the front. Once the coating starts to come off it get caught in the pads and it strips itself. I lost the coating on 40% of a rim in one ride. Then the pulsing starts on the braking.

Sure they the breaking is good and they are good wheels but only for 1500 miles.

I suppose all of us used the wrong pads.
