I heard a whisper that Scott is planning on bringing back the Addict into it's range as of 2014 from a local rep.

Anyone else heard anything?

Heard something similar, but then my Sram rep also told me they were going electronic and 11 speed for 2013 so unless your reps are substantially more reliable than ours(wouldn't be very difficult to be fair)...

Why did they get rid of the Addict in the first place? Not a lot of people I know buy into the "aero road frame" marketing. Most of the Specs and Cervelo's I see are Tarmacs and R-Series. I see ton of Cannondales and they don't even offer an "aero road" option.

Yeah, asv they've probably realized that.

Hope they updating the styling. I've got a 2011 Addict R1, think the HT and fork are a little goofy looking. They'll probably also move to a slightly tapered steer tube.

Only other problem I have with my Addict is lack of clearance around the chain stays for wider rims and bigger tires.

That and it's a bit too long for me. :oops:

Scott stopped producing the Addict because there was too much overlap with the Foil. Normally aero frames are quite compromised it terms of weight and feel when compared to most companies' high end road frames. The Foil is a bit of the exception as it still features the stiffness that made the Addict so popular with only a negligible increase in frame weight (the base HMF Foil frame is still lighter than the the S-Works Tarmac SL4). Think of the aero benefit as the icing on the cake. I can certainly feel the difference in crosswinds...

Visually we can all see the differences; They look 'fugly' aside from the weight issues - the SL4 looks nicer IMO, which is why i bought one over the foil i demo'd. Obviously each to their own... but like a couple above have mentioned... there doesn't seem to be many aero frames knocking around on the club runs and major sportive rides in UK / Ronde van Vlaanderen that i attend.

Generally the average man isn't swayed with the marketing bull of saving 10 seconds over 250km unless they are the current Lance Armstrong aka Mr :evil:!!!

I would love to see the return of the addict and i would certainly buy one of their frames, but only the addict, the CR1 is too much of a relaxed geo, the foil is too much the other way and not visually striking, at the end of the day, whatever is designed and touted as new is only as successful as the sales it generates.

BRING BACK THE ADDICT :lol:

Considering that aero road frames are a recent innovation and generally carry a higher price of admission, the fact that you don't see as many is hardly surprising. From a sales standpoint the Foil has been as successful as the Addict (according to several stockists). Looks are always subjective as I find the Tarmac's curved toptube unsightly and the SuperSix is just boring.

Bringing back the Addict makes sense from a financial perspective as all the big names carry aero and non-aero road frames these days. Would I trade either of my Foils for one? Can't really see it happening.

Cervelo has offered aero road frames for over a decade now with the Soloist.

I'm sure there are situations where the frames make a lot of sense, but in the last few years with numerous "aero road" frames available the vast majority of people I see buying top of the line frames are not going for the "aero road" offerings.

I almost never see a Scott in my area, but I think thats because the local dealers are pretty weak.
