Hi all

I have just bought a 2012 TM01 Frameset & it should be here in a couple of days.

I am interested in some different opinions on how to spec it. The initial plan is to move my Di2 & Pro Missile Evo bars off my P3 on to the BMC. However there are a few considerations here...

Groupset
I could use the additional extension length that the UCI grants mechanical shifters over a Di2 setup. I wish this wasn't the case because I do love Di2 but at the end of the day this may be faster. Options would be either SRAM or Shimano, I have no experience with road SRAM although my team road bike will use SRAM this year. Am I correct in thinking SRAM would be the lightest option? Full ceramic bearings though out.

I have a 7800 DA SRM and I use Osymetric rings.

Pedals
Speedplay Zero Stainless. I have looked at changing to the Ti version and even the Nanograms if I can find some used ones in good condition, I have no experience with the Nano's, am I right to consider them?

Bars
Currently I have Pro Missile Evo's, I quite like them but I have had my eye on USE's new R1, they look like they could be a lighter faster choice, what do you think?

Wheelset
Zipp 900 & 808 FC
I think I would like to add a HED H3 as a front option but I've been happy with the 808. The 900 isn't as true or round as I'd like, I don't know how other discs compare but I'm open to change even though I love working on Zipp's hubs. I have been looking at the Lightweight disc but I don't know if they are Shimano 11sp compatible yet? I have a set of Tune Skyline Skewers that I usually use on race day. Full ceramic bearings through out.

If there are things I have missed I am interested to hear your thoughts, thank you

Mmmmm. Nice. I thought you were on SRM, too? @Ruds, what ring size are you running?

Hi Geoff, hopefully I'll be able to use a 56, I've got it to work on my P3.

@ Tillquist Do you have either a bike or frame weight you could share?

How do you find the Lightweight Autobahn?

Nice ride!

As for the speedplays, may I suggest you email the folks at ward industries Don't go and look for them on the website as they aren't listed. Contact them and ask about them. they are cheap, tough and reliable.

Thank you Frankie I'll check them out shortly. Ti axel aside for a moment, has anyone played with Nanograms in their hands and can comment on if they spin a lot more easily?

I would like to improve on my P3c's race weight of 7.8kg by as much as possible. Fit and drag are clearly top of the list but surely I can do better than 7.8kg. Of my three group options, 2013 Di2, DA or SRAM Red what is my lightest?

Thank you once again :)

Hi guys, I just wanted to update this thread with some weights because I couldn't find any when I was researching the frame.

Bare frame & Fork (all bolts and stem pieces removed): 1.29kg
Seat post (uncut inc. bolt) 245g
Brake weight (one complete brake) 122g

I had meant to get pictures along the way. It's the most intricately detailed and best made frame I've worked with, I was expecting something good but this has surprised me. There are a lot of threads bonded into the carbon which has been done very neatly and everything has gone together very well. It's reasonably heavy but I can see where the weight has been added in the frameset design and I'm happy with that. The front end seems a huge amount stiffer than my P3c and I'm pleased to find the stem is well engineered and although a little heavy is stiff, neat and simple to work on.

I have yet to put the chain or pedals on because my 56t Osymetric is about 2mm away from clearing the FD, I can make this work but I'm not sure I want to take a file to the FD mount just yet.

Ready to ride this is going to weigh 8.03kg. I would really like to bring this down but I don't see any simple (read cheap) areas to start on

One area that has come to mind though has been the group set. I could benefit from the extension advantage from mechanical shifters, can anyone tell me what I would save by going to SRAM or DA 9000 over Di2?

Sorry for another update but since the thread is getting a few views I hope no one minds.

I've decided to go for Sram Red because it means I don't have to dig myself out of the hole that I am now in with three Zipp rear wheels that will need to be either rebuilt with a new hub or in the case of the 900 simply replaced...

So hopefully it will arrive tomorrow and I can get out on the bike. One feature I like the look of is the chain catcher built into the Red FD.

I'm hoping this will also shed quite a bit of weight, I'm guessing 250g, I know swapping the FD & RD saves 120g.

What size are those weights for?

I'm also building a TM01 but with Ultegra Di2. Not quite done but appears it will likely be around 8.5kg for a size large.

The weights are for a ML. Large will obviously weigh a little more but Ultegra Di2 is heavier.

Mine was going to be 8.1kg which just feels too much for a race bike to me. I'll aim for 7.5kg

I've had all the parts from my TM01 on the weight, but my computer went dead in October and I have not been able to access all my data on the computer since :-(

Ok guys, I have a few more questions :D

I am interested in swapping out my TT SRM if there is a suitable alternative and the Quarq intrigues me. I have been and will continue to do some research but the Cannondale SISL crankset fitted with a Quarq & my Osymetric rings sounds pretty good. I like the ease of replacing the battery and calibrating it. Can anyone share some experience?

It would surely lose some weight and mean I can bin the 24mm adaptors.

Thank you once again
