I just went from older Ultegra 10 to older SRAM Red. I really like it although I still use a shimano FD/cassette. Other than threading the cables through, which is a urge pain, I have no issues.

For anyone that has used old red (sounds like a hunting dog's name) and new red, is their any bike difference in shifting especially on the rear?

I have the 2010 version of Sram Red on my old Supersix shifts very well no complaints. Now on my new Supersix Evo with 2013 Sram Red I can honestly tell you the shifting is more crisp and smooth on the new. I really take notice while riding how much nicer it truly is and I really like my old stuff.

The difference in rear shifting is probably the least significant part of the group - only because it was already very good
