lightest 29er suspension fork
Moderator: Moderator Team
What is the lightest 29er suspension forks? I would need a tapered with qr15. I have seen very different claimed weights. Fox claims 1540 gram. Is this a real weight!
I am most disapointed in the Magura ts8 claimed weight at over 1700 gram. Always loved Magura forks.
O, I don't want a Lefty! Been there. They need to improve durability to compete with other forks.

The sid WC XX is pretty light. 1565g with uncut steerer, including stock axle (72g). Swap the axle for a tune at 43g and cut the steerer and you're looking at 1480g or so.

WTB Syncros bar/stem unit for foil
The SID World Cup with the carbon crown/steer tube is IIRC 1465.
For certain parts stiffer is more important than lighter.

The German.A Kilo 29er fork is probably the lightest suspension fork at 1.212kg.
After that you're probably looking at a Lefty

As far as I can tell from their web site .... they don't make a taper version on the A-1 Kilo forks. If anyone knows anything different please post as I would consider taking the plunge to get one of these.
Thanks.
I couldn't see a tapered version either. Probably a room problem. You could always run an adapter crown race. I have done that in the past and it worked well.

I was drooling at there German-a Xcite fork. 1534gram claimed for the alu version (Boost) and 1407gram for the carbon version (Criterium). But I am having some doubt about spending 1000 euro on a fork for maybe 60gram weightsaving.
I noticed btw that the Magura TS8 is claimed 1630gram. Would this be with the axle? This would make it around 1570 gram without.

WR Compositi is very light as well but has no qr15. Would be around 1200g too.
With QR15 is the FRM but I do not have the weight.

I totally agree. But on the other side, there are some solutions e.g. Magura MT8 with `03 Marta IS 160mm front disc brake caliper

This one with 160g will also kick a tuned Formula R1s a$$

You only own a bike when you've violated every single term of guarantee.

I mentioned already that a Lefty is out of the question. My Lefty has had more repairs in 1 year then all my other forks together for the last 10 years. And all these repairs where done by a official repairshop! For me the Lefty is to fragile.
I'm between the Magura TS8 SL because I just love the "SL" tuning of these forks without the need for a lockout. I tend to forget to use these remote lockouts. I hope that with a Tune QR15 lever this fork would be under 1600 gram.
Or wait a little longer for some extra cash and buy the GermanA xcite carbon. But that would be over 1000 euro with a tapered steerer and Qr15
