 Post subject: Dogma 2 65.1k weight?

I am deciding between a Cervelo R5 and the Dogma but I have not gotten any exact weights for the Pinarello. Does anyone have one? If I get the Pinarello I would most likely use their carbon most bar and stem combo as well as seat post. I will also use my C24 rims and new all new SRAM Red components.
There doesn't seem to be much info on this bike....is it the price or the weight?

Weight of a dogma=s#!t-loads ;) That's a standard unit of weight measurement isn't it? Dogma= handling...if you are after a bike that even vaguely aims to be light, this is not the frame to start with. Real figures I heard were in the 1200g range which is quite a lot!
There was a thread about dogma 60.1's on here....have a bit of a hunt.

The other I am considering is an R5. My LBS weighed a 52 or 54 that was 14.7 with the boat anchor wheels they come with, so my C24s would have it probably in the 13s. If its really 1200 which includes lots of paint that's much more than the claimed 760 for the R5.

Hi, I have a dogma 2 in a size 55 and it isn't the very lightest frame out there but I wouldn't swap it for an R5 - not for love nor money! the D2 was good enough for team sky and movistar in 2012 and they built them to the UCI limit of 6.8kg with a light tubular wheelset and that's with SRM cranks. You can't fault the Dogma's ride, super smooth and stiff - it pretty much gets 10/10 reviews everywhere and even Cav said it was the perfect ride. It looks phenonenal too, and has a superb finish quality and detailing on the paintwork. R5's are being heavily discounted to sell at the mo - you won't find that with the Dogma2. This forum focuses on weight only and it is pretty irrelevant - misleading even - when you are at the very highest end of bike specification and performance. The Most finishing kit isn't the lightest out there either at over 400 grams for the range topping integrated Talon bar/stem combo but again Movistar used it in 2012 across their team bikes and it was good enough for Valverde to secure his numerous grand tour wins. FYI the Dogma2 is quoted at being 6% lighter than Dogma1.

To give you an idea of weight i think your build as detailed if you got a Dogma2 and built with SRAM red and c24s will come in just under 7kg with pedals (assuming medium frame size, light finishing kit / tyres).

My build as per pic: Dogma 2 CDE 55cm (comes with seat post), DT swiss c46 carbon clincher wheelset, dura Ace 7900 groupset and pedals, richey carbon matrix 110mm stem, richey carbon evo bars 44cm, fizik arione cx saddle, conti 4000s tyres / bonti racelite tubes, elite pase carbon cage x 2, Spesh classic tape, control tech QRs
7.1kg including pedals & cages

Wow, that's quite heavy for that spec. A buddy of mine has one in the 55 and it's almost as heavy as my winter hack. He does love the ride and says it's the best bike he's ever had. Can't imagine ever getting rid of my Foil for one though, especially as I enjoy the low weight on climbs.

I would say: it is quite LIGHT for the specs!
Friend of mine has Dogma + Super Record + carbon SLR sadle + Campagnolo BORA wheels and his bike is 7.2kg! All of the components ARE LIGHTER than the ones used on the Pina above.

Weight of 7,1kg for a porky Dura Ace, porky Fizik, porky wheels....? Well, personally I doubt the weight of 7.1kg for the bike above. 8)

Grill, would you notice the difference between carrying an an extra tube, or a mini-pump in your back pocket on a climb? Or a couple of gulps of water gone from your bottle? We're talking pretty minimal grammage differences - you might perhaps notice a little less rolling resistance from featherweight tubs vs heavier deep sections on steep climbs but otherwise these weight differences will have no impact on speed or performance. The irony of this forum is that what makes a great bike and a great performing bike is not purely the bike's weight. And I certainly don't think Dave Brailsford lies awake at night worrying if team Sky's 'porky' bikes are holding them back.

No but the extra tubes, pump, etc. are constants on all rides. I don't run tubs either as I have Attacks and Elites depending on the weather. Do I feel the 100g difference between wheelsets on longer climbs (3+ miles)? Absolutely. Is it in my head? Maybe, but all data indicated that I ride faster on a lighter bike. My winter bike is just over 8kg which I feel immediately if I've just ridden my Foil (6.8kg), but I adjust within the first 20 miles and it's fine. Slower but fine. I don't worry about weight on my TT bike as aero trumps it.

As far as the pros are concerned, keep in mind that the UCI has a minimum weight (about 6.9kgs IIRC) so they're almost all on a level playing field as many have to ballast their bikes. Even Wiggo has used ultralight wheels whilst climbing as do many others.

The r5 rides great.
The dogma 65.1 think2 has the oddest name ever. And it is heavy. and the little curves don't make sense. But every time I get on one, I am blown away. I'm not one for quantifying a bike's ride, or even giving it much weight (pun intended), but there is something about it. The dogma is definitely a bike that is greater than the sum of its parts.

the pro bikes have to be at minimum weight but mine doesn't, so if its 1.5 to 2.0 lbs lighter that will help me on a century ride with lots of climbing. Plus, why not get a bike that has maximum engineering and technology? I hope that Dogma doesn't ride as well as everyone says! I have also read that it may get major changes next year.

Is the riding position or anything else very different? which one is stiffer? I was also guided towards a S-Works Venge and I like the S5 but I think that will come later. I asked a few guys at the bike shop about R3 or R5 as the next step from my RS and they all really spoke of the R5 with reverence. aside from some clashing bits of red the 2013 R5 is not a bad looking bike - unless it is parked right next to the Pinarello.
