Great build, good job.

So did you ever mount the 7900 (10)spd cassette and give it a try?
Or did you just go ahead and pull off the (11) tooth from a D-Ace 9000 and mount that cassette?

Also, which D-Ace 9000 cassette are you running, which gear ratio?

I just saw the answer to m question; you have the 11 - 28.

But did you ever give the (10) spd cassette a try?

Just to clarify, you pulled the 11tooth sprocket and I guess used a bigger lockring against the 12? And that works out ok? Oh and stunning looking bike by the way.

That's an interesting point, question. As we know, lockrings do come in (2) varieties; (11)tooth and (12)tooth.

If I'm 'forced' to buy the D-Ace 9000 cassette (can't dial in the shifting with a (10) spd cassette) I will buy the (11) spd, 11 - 25 model. Then pull out the (16) tooth cog and install it. With the (16) tooth cog removed it will be a match for the cogs found in the 7900 & 6700 (10)spd 11 - 25 cassette.

yes you can pull it, and it will create the same cog 'set-up' as seen for the 7900 (10) spd 11 - 25 cassette

For that matter, you could pull the (16) from the 9000/ 11 - 23 OR the 9000/ 11 - 25

and then simply bolt it on your (10) spd free-hub body. I've been 'pulling' various cogs for years to create custom set ups.

Of course 'pulling' a cog on the (11) speed is going to make the entire cassette a 'hair' more narrow than your normal 7900 cassette, but the O.P. has done it successfully.
