Hi, I was wondering what are the best bike shop around the country for selection or bikes, wheels, components, clothing.

I've been to a good few and some shops are small and very run of the mill and some have lots of high end bikes and kit.

I was wondering what are the country's biggest and best.

Big Bang Bikes in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, definitely has drool worthy bike porn--colnagos, pinarellos, carreras, etc. Plus a few of the best mechanics anywhere.

Bike Nüt in San Francisco perhaps second to Fairwheel, but it is unfortunately no longer with us, having closed a few years ago. Perhaps something will come along to fill the niche. I think it's really hard to stock inventory in Weight-Weenie stuff.

As noted, Fairwheel is great. If you're looking for a shop that is exclusively hard-to-find, no generic stuff, you can look slightly north to Toronto. This place is something else: http://blacksmithcycle.com/shop/ A competing team to mine is sponsored by them. Lucky...

I know it's not in the USA but Blacksmith in Canada is pretty damn sweet as well.

Strictly Bicycles in Fort Lee, NJ has nice bike porn on display including Pinarello, Colnago, BMC, Cannondale, Specialized, Trek and Cervelo. Plenty of nice wheelsets lying around from Madfiber and Lightweight as well. I had the pleasure of having a coffee there on a Lightweight Wheel table the other day.

I second Airpark Bikes in Scottsdale AZ. Awesome shop and then open the giant display doors and there's a ton more stuff.
And as long as you're there, 5 min away is Faster. A spectacular bike shop with a state-of-the art 3D bike fit and wind tunnel. A very high tech shop. Additionally, they have hot and cold baths and a room with leg recovery compression bags. The shop staff is very friendly and knowledgable.
Both these places are well worth the drive from wherever you may be in AZ.

I third Blacksmith. I just ordered a Parlee Z5 SL frameset from them and can't wait for them to build it. I've never seen so many exotic brands in one store before, Baum, Alchemy, Passoni, Cyfac, Fondereist, Carrerra, Boo, IF, Passoni, Pegorretti, yikes i need a cold shower now. Truly paradise for bike porn aficionados.
