My 2012 Supersix. Size 54.

I have a wife and 2 kids (Ages 5 and 2) along with a mediocre job/salary, so I dont have a crap ton of money to throw into my bike. EVERYTHING I buy for my bike is from what I can buy and flip for a profit, Christmas or birthday money I get. I'm always on the lookout for a deal and am usually able to upgrade pieces by selling my replaced piece for a decent profit, which makes the total cost of the new item not so bad. I still have some work to do, but I like the results so far.

EDITED: Now at 14.79lbs (Goal reached!)
With new Enve wheels:15.2lbs. BUT bike feels SOOO much better with the wheels. I'll gladly take the added weight.

If you get kcnc brakes, get some koolstop or other pads for them, stock pads are no good.

How are the praxis rings with respect to the transition from the ring to the crank? As smooth as the stock FSA? They look like the fit really well. I've got a set on my Wish List as well...very nice!

Praxis shift much smoother and more precise.

I just bought some koolstop brake pads yesterday. I'll be looking into the PlanetX calipers. What do you guys think about TRP brakes compared to KCNC or planetX? I have ultegra brake calipers now and even though i want to lose some weight, I really dont want to compromise braking power.

my 920s with a bit of tuning 246gm a pr..

Are the trp 979 caliper the best to choose from amongst the TPR? I know NOTHING about TRP, so if anyone can give some insight (I will also try to do some research) that would be great.

Edit: sweet jeebus, just saw the price for the 979...no can do


Probably would look at the 920.

I like the option of the C7 calipers. Just not sure if they will stop as good as my ultegra even if I outfit the C7's with better pads. Thoughts?

ive had kcnc ...even with swisstops in nowhere near imho as planet x & certainly nowhere near 920s..

unless I'm reading it wrong, the 920's are only 20g lighter than Shimano DA though. not much of a benefit especially if you are losing any kind of braking power.

very little diff in stopping power & im a big lad...

I just took off a pair of TRP 920SL from my CAAD10 as I got some gunmetal PlanetX CNC brakes really cheap. The TRP 920 brakes are really good and easy to setup. I really dont like the set screw on the CNC brakes to hold the cable. It slipped when setting up and destroyed the cable. Very fine line between too tight and slipping. If it slips you need a new cable.

Not sure if it's worth the weight savings yet. I'm using Yokozuna reaction cables now and the stopping power is great.
