A rare contribution from the past few days.
Location(s) - Eastern Sierra Mountains, California
Snowshoeing on Christmas Day - 12 miles worth, 2000' climbing, around Lake Mary up to some point above Lake George.

Then, yesterday, I decided to take a quick spin from Lone Pine up to Mt. Whitney (portal) to loosen up the legs and because it was a really beautiful day out.
Alabama Hills after a nice dusting of winter

The road was mostly clear, at least from the start... this is a panorama featuring Mt. Whitney, looming clouds from the remaining storm, and the Alabama Hills. Click on the picture for the full image download.

... but eventually, after passing up and through those lower clouds, a small sign indicating the snow would no longer be removed from the road proved to be true: it got messy. This is the view I was greeted with when I decided to turn around and descend back into Lone Pine.

Yep.
