Anyone have any experience replacing the spoke retention ring (see picture) on an 88 hub? I bought a set of wheels with one of them missing, got the ring from a shop, but it seems to be a bear to put on. Is some sort of press needed, or am I just missing some key thing.

A Zipp rep once told me to de-tension the wheel, install the new ring, then re-tension the wheel.

Definitely detension the side missing the ring. It's not as much of a pain as it seems. Go around the wheel, loosening each spoke on one side by one full turn. If the spokes still have some tension, go around again. It should go slack around 4 turns, I think. Put the ring in, then do what you undid.

It looks like that'll be my only option, I tried to hammer it back on with no success. Oh well, something to do tonight I suppose.
