I've been looking into getting a cyclocross commuter, maybe racer, gravel road/ bad weather summer bike, that i can take onto the single track where i live. Clearly it has quite a few areas to fill, so i'm not extremely worried about weight (I know! weight weenie sacriledge!). I've decided to go with the disc brakes as that seems like the way cyclocross is going, and i can switch in lighter mtb wheels should i want to. Being a student i'm trying to stay under or around $1500 and have come up with:
Civilian Vive le Roi

Raleigh RX 2.0

The civilian is 130mm rear spacing so im somewhat concerned about that when using mtb wheels, and doesn't have fender mounts. But it sure does look pretty! I think i'm leaning toward the RX 2.0 but i'm not sure...Any thoughts?
Also how do you think disc brakes will hold up on a 7+ mile technical road descent?
Thanks! and sorry about the novel ^ ha!
Which cyclocross disc bike to buy?

Think you pretty much answered it yourself. There aren't very many 130mm disc hubs out there, so your wheel selection will be limited. That said you could always contact the manufacturer what they think about splaying out the rear with a wider hub. It sure is a nice bike!

Someone has a Civilian. I just saw it a couple days ago. The owner loves it. Hmmm, maybe I saw it here or on mtbr. I'll try to find it.
