My left 5600 shimano shifter has suddenly developed a rattle. Altering the cable tension has no affect and the brake callipers or the plastic top plate are not the issue. Have you guys got any thoughts on what it could be? Driving me nuts!

Is it your left sti? Its a common problem. Take it to your dealer. I think you will have no problem getting it replaced under warranty.

Ok, it probably is too old to be still under warranty. I still believe this was a common warranty issue not too long ago.

Is the rear brake cable taught? If not, the brake lever might not be returning fully.
