Has anyone tried drilling the barrel adjusters like what is done on Yumeya ones?

I am not sure what the weight saving will be but I doubt it is more than 1 g so pbobably not worth the risk of ruinning at good pair of adjusters plus the holes will allow mud to get in.

I doubt you'll even save 1g......

I have deleted one barrel adjuster on mine (XT rear, XTR comes without anyway) which saved 3g in total (plastic knob, spring and the excess cut off the steel part)

I can build these for 0.8gm each or 0.90grams with a little nut. If your putting it into a threaded frame then you wouldnt need the little nut. I have a pair full time on my roadie.

These are already available.

Saved me 3-4g per barrel on XTR shifters, work fantastically well and look great.

Works fine when I click on it! Just looks weird.

those aren't as good asthe shimano ones as the shimano have a ridge and together ith a spring, that prevents them unscrewing. in the end i left them alone, wasn't worth the risk of messing them up.

I have used them for several years now both on shifters and rear mechs without any issues at all. They are pretty difficult to adjust so certainly wouldn't come unscrewed easily- I think the outer cable compresses the barrel adjuster to the shifter keeping everything nice and tight. Quite a few easy g's to be saved too :)
