Which is lighter? Which is better?

I have used the lizard skin tape and the fizik tape. The lizard skin tape is way grippy-er and more rubberized while the fizik feels like a pseudo leather. I would imagine that the weight is lighter with the Fizik, but I personally prefer the tacky-ness and cushion of the lizard skins tape. Either one is great, but I prefer lizard skins. Good luck!

I just like plain old carbon. Around 37 grams.

I have a set of Deda Carbon tape at home and I just put them on the scales. They weigh 91g with the plugs, 87g without. The Lizard Skins claim to be 50g with plugs. Competitive Cyclist has the Skins at 60g 'actual'. I think the individual sets are similar lengths. The Lizards anyway won't be shorter. Apparently thay are of generous size.

Anyway the Skins are lighter than the Cabons, it seems, but I can't find a weight for the Fizik tape. I certaily prefer the look of the Skins over the Deda tape.

Fizik tape is overrated IMO. Had it on a bike - different rolls and models - for 5 years but always found different tapes on other bikes preferable.

Lizard Skins DSP is nice. Ritchey tape is nice also, and WW, though the plugs are anchors.

For this build my order of preference is -

Weight
Appropriate looks
Feel/Comfort

The tape will have to be reasonably comfortable. Weight is my no.1 preference but not the only one.

The Lizard Skin Race Tape in black looks the part, is certainly one of the lightst, and apparently has a good feel considering it's very low weight. I think I'll go with that.

Deda is the lightest IME. The Deda perforated tape I used to have weighted 40gr including plugs. Nice tape.

My Lizard Skins installed on 42cm bars was 40g. There was a fair bit left over.
Its nice tape and I will use it again.
The one that looks the best (IMO) is the Prologo black with the white logo motif.

^^ I use that Deda tape on all my bikes. It's a bout £4 a roll, light as anything else and really comfy.

Would anyone argue with the premise that the lightest tape (exluding going silly with electrical tape or something) are within 5g weight of each other. That's the used amount on say a 42cm bar. In the 40g region without plugs.

Any lighter and you really are compromising on comfort and possibly looks.

Deda Perforated is under 40g with plugs, really nice tape.

Not a fan of Deda's tape. Rolls are really short. Doesn't seem to have much elasticity, which makes wrapping that much harder (when combined with the short length).

Depends what you're after I guess - it's not particularly grippy and not particularly cushioned (the standard stuff, 'soft touch' might be better) but it is pretty light and outrageously durable.
