I have a new carbon MTB frame with gloss paint that I would like to protect (at least the underside of the tubes) and am wondering what kind of tape you would suggest. I am located in the US and would also appreciate a supplier suggestion.

Thanks!

you can use a 3M material that they use for cars...clearbra. you can get a small roll from griotsgarage.com

I used hockey tape, the one you wrap pads and skates with, it does a great job, check out my vertex 2013 in my sig, I put some on the downtube

Thanks for the ideas. I have also been suggested to use 3M Scotch 2228 and also ICS Racer's Tape.

I use One Industries clear number plate background for Motocross bikes. You get 3 12" x 18" sheets per pack. Any offroad motorcycle shop can get this for you. Stay away from N-Style, Factory Effex, etc. their glue is not as good as the One Ind. stuff. After you clean your frame, do a final prep with alcohol, do it in the warmest dust free room you have, use a hair drier to pre-heat the frame & clear tape. When finished leave it in a warm room for 24 hours before riding.

I use Crankskins. It is essentially the same 3M tape listed above, but you get it cut to specific sizes for you. It turns out being a bit cheaper then buying it from Griot's.

It's not exactly tape, but Frame Defender has out a kit with a bunch of different sized pads. They protect but also absorb the impact making it different from other things that just deflect.
