handlebar weenies: anyone know of any flat bars, 600mm wide, that have NO backsweep? I see alot of flat bars out there, but they all have varying degrees of sweep to them.

I started with a 6 degree bar, now on Easton 3 degree backsweep, and needing a pencil-straight bar.

Well a few guys around where I live went to one of the aeroplane companies in town and got a 22.2mm titanium tube and then cut it to what ever length and just run a shim to 25.4. seems to work well

thx, that's a good idea.
Ti Cycles used to be here in Seattle, now in Portland OR but Dave still does bars of all kinds.

What about a 7/8" carbon tube? Would I be risking my life to try this kind of bar stock:

(It's got .050" wall thickness)

1.25mm is too thin for bars.....

The 'Dildo bars' are dead straight but not at all WW.

Yeah, kinda knew that, but thanks for the reality check!
I have a 130g bar now, so I don't really want to go over that.
Would have thought that some manufacturer offers a carbon fiber 'dildo' bar...Oh hey, maybe I should look in a sexshop??

No worries, just messed around with search terms (use Yahoo, less dodgy cemmercial hits which you don't want than Google!).....

That Giant straight bar is from a UK dealer, but no response to my email (i'm on west coast usa).

Looked on eBay, apparently the chinese think that a "straight" bar means flat with sweepback. Lost in translation

Any other suggestions?

Can try and help youm sourcing from UK dealer.

Try CF specialists for straight tube, but you'll either have 22.2mm which means shims or 25.4 and be unable to fit controls.....

I actually just received a 24" straight 7/8" carbon tube from dragonplate. 97g + it seems more than stiff and strong enough.

And it seems from poking around the interwebs that there are no light wieght 110 stems with a 22.2 bar mount.
So either use shims with a 25.4 stem, or i might ask Calfee or someone similar to fuse/wrap the 7/8 bar onto a lightweight stem and create a monocoque.

Just took delivery of that Giant "straight" bar from UK. Guess what? It's NOT straight, it has like 8 degrees of backsweep.
Looks like I keep using my 7/8" OD carbon tube w/.0625 wall that I found. That's been working fine so far.

I would be wary of using a plain piece of carbon tubing as a handlebar.
Not meant to bear load in that manner. Ask a carbon builder.
Imagine clamping a carbon tube in a repair stand very tightly, then working both ends.

yes, i'm cognizant of that. my issue is that any backsweep causes wrist pain. i know, not normal but it is what it is and only a straight bar works for me. so far so good, but yes it is not a dedicated handlebar.

I emailed TBC to suggest they might want to use a different word than "straight" to describe their backswept bar.

Absolutely, I'd also be asking for some compensation to cover what you'll be out of pocket in selling it on.

As for the CF bar, doesn't matter what it is designed for, it's either strong enough or not!
