"Aero" Road Helmets that are not TT helmets?

The Louis Garneau is very appealing, it seems like a good aero helmet that can be worn for any ride/event. The others so far seem appropriate for crits or track, but not necessarily road races. Venting and keeping the head cool (temperature, and psychologically) is an issue, I believe.

Interestingly, the common NutCase style helmets that are used for both commuters and skaters are actually quite aero! I've seen a number of track riders use them (and even use one towards a state championship win). But, again, no venting and worn on the track where the event is short enough to allow for the helmet to be taken off soon after.

Get your normal helmet and put a showercap over the top, that's what I do on time trials, also works for when it rains. Keeps my brains warm.

Shower cap over helmet is a bad idea isnt the point of the coating on helmets so your head slides the shower cap could prevent that causing worse injuries in a crash.

yeah...i want one also....reason being when mountainbiking i use a TSG skatelike helmet cause im using shorts and mx style jersey unless if its a race than bibs and jersey with the normal road helmet gets my vote....so i can have one do it all helmet for my cycling needs...

I'm just going to buy the snap on shell for my Laser. They have the shaped one out now for like $20 but they have a new smooth one that Andre Griepel was wearing in the tour sprint sections (he put the cover on late in the race after a trip to the car). I asked Laser a while back and they said spring release. I like the new Giro too but only with the lens on.

I am also not an engineer, but taking a look at the 'aero' claims by LG (Course Helmet) and Carrera (Radius/Razor) it seems that these two offerings are attempting to maintain ventilation while allowing for some aero qualities of the helmet overall. Aero qualities - and please, if an engineer is reading this correct me or back me up - are both in what is going into the wind as well as how the wind/air moves off of the object. The Course and Radius/Razor helmets have, apparently, design that allows the wind to come off the helmet in a smoother fashion compared to those that end in flares/ends which make the air transfer off in a poor fashion. Does that make sense?

For example, part of the reason why the Toyota Prius gets such "high" gas mileage isn't necessarily that it is a hybrid, it is the body shape and details in the design that minimize drag. Drag is in large part affected by the way the air ends off of the object.
