In latin, the name is spelled as 'tahion'. It's an mid 80s kilo tt bike made in Kharkov, Ukraine, in former-USSR.
Good find i must say, these were even hard to get for the elite cyclist in USSR and to my knowledge, only 400 were made during 11 years.

Proper racing bike. 99% of modern road bikes are set like tourist bikes.
I always ride like that

Even with no spacers and -17 stem my bars are too high for me.
I always have a good laugh when rider have a position of monkey hanging on a banana tree with a powermeter.

Your handlebars are not extra low. Just average.
An old friend and a pretty good cyclist as well (note the odd double crank set up):

What am I looking at here, chainrings on both sides?

And one could argue that 99% of bikes are not raced, making us (well, me anyway) tourists.
drchull wrote:Kasparz, you might try a bar with a larger drop to get lower, those look pretty compact. Doesn't look all that aggressive to me but I ride about a 10cm drop. Might just be how the pictures look though.
23cm drop on my road bike and 28cm on time trial bike. I would love to drop a bit more, but then i will need adjustable stem that is heavy and I don't want that on a road bike. I will get new frame with shorter headtube soon.
It is not about current setup, but body position in these pictures.
Your position is too high, Kasparz.

Agreed, you are riding very high. You should be able to drop your whole body down by another 2 inches.

Thats Jocelyn Lovell's kilo bike. Its a homebrew automatic 2 speed transmission. One chainring and cog is a low gear. That rear cog can freewheel. The 2nd chainring and cog is a standard fixed gear and is a higher gear. But the fixed cog isn't screwed all the way on.
So you start the race in the low gear and after a short time the fixed cog automatically screws on all the way. When that happens the bigger gear is driving you and the smaller gear freewheels.
