Sram red bb30 with q rings
Moderator: robbosmans
I've read now in a few places that sram red bb30 chainset will not accept rotor q rings? Is this correct?, is there any way around this? Other than chopping the rings up? What would be the cheapest way of fixing this? I have a rotor 3d chainset also, so I may have to buy the rotor adapter ?

New Red has the hidden 5th chainring bolt, so that could be a game changer. With the previous generation Red and Force Q-Rings did not fit the compact cranks without either chopping them up or using the OCP3 outer ring. As far as I am aware Q-rings always fit standard BB30 Sram cranks.

Yes it will. But as you said, you need to "chop up" the rings. You need to just dremel a part of the ring so it fits over the crank and doesn't hit. Takes about 10-15 minutes with a dremel being careful to ensure you still have all the settings available and don't do the wrong part.
Only the large rings needs this done, inside isn't a problem.

I can add that indeed the old Red BB30 cranks had this issue, but that there's a "OCP3" ring pre-set in position 3, you can use without problems. And, yes. The new Red is compatible with the normal Q-rings.

The OP didn't specify new or old Red. Your photo makes it rather obvious that they work with new Red. Are those standard or compact cranks?
