Got the crank in the mail today, will weigh and post details later, butsince my crank is GXP, and the frame is BB30, which is best adaptor to use ?

Use something like the HSC BB42 setup (I'm not fussed re ceramics)

http://www.hscceramics.com.au/HSC-Bike-Ceramic-Bottom-Bracket/onlineshop-BottomBracket-BB42(30mmTo24mm).html

OR, get a set of std bearings from Wiggle (or similar), and use the Wheels Manufacturing delrin adaptors ?

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sram-bb30-standard-bearing-assembly/

http://wheelsmfg.com/products/bottom-brackets-front-drivetrain/bb-adapters/bb-30-shims-sram.html
OR this adaptor
http://wheelsmfg.com/bb-pf30-multi-adapter-for-sram-cranks.html

Links used as guides, and may not be bought from them directly.

Thanks in advance

My 175 compact GXP setup weighed in at 579g including protective wrap.

Praxis rings and a sanding are in line soon :D

Gotta be happy with that weight for that price

OK, so I'm now at the stage where I want to buy some of the Praxis Rings (50-34), but the shipping cost to Oz is just patently ridiculous.

US $48 to ship two chainrings !!!

Can anyone share a better place to buy them from where the shipping cost is better ?

Cheers

Try SJS Cycles in the UK http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/praxis-works-shoppraxis_works_pg1. Back in September I picked up a set of 52-36 for 106 pounds shipped (around A$165). Took about 2.5 weeks to receive from the UK to Brisbane.

Hey Guys,
All Praxis Works ring sets are available in Australia/New Zealand at your local dealer through our distributor, Dawson Sports Group. Any dealer can sign on and carry our rings to get them to you.
Support your local dealer!

Also, our Praxis website Dealer Locator shows the current shops in AUS that have already signed on and carrying product.

Did anyone try running a single chainring setup on these cranks?
Would there be any issues with the "hidden" chainring bolt?
I'm guessing it would be ok if the chainring was mounted in the outer place with a short chainring or in the inner place with something to take up the place for the missing outer chainring, but would be nice with confirmation.

That website is orrible !!!

Doesn't show me anything but a few brands they distribute. Only way to find out anything is to contact them. Being distributors, they are not sellers to individuals like me, so of no use.

Besides, managed to get the rings and they have already been dispatched.

Thanks anyway.

It is often the postal costs in getting things from the USA that makes them unviable to buy from. USD$48 to ship 2 chain rings is crazy. The shipping cost from the UK (a smaller store that doesn't have the power to include freight in their prices like Wiggle, Ribble etc) only charged USD$13.50 for exactly the same part and over a further distance !!

So the net price to me was $10 higher than what the rings cost themselves from Praxis direct, saving me almost $40 - a 20% saving.

MichaelB,

Your local Bike Shop near you can order up any Praxis product you want from DSG.
It's simple. Then you bypass all the shipping issues you speak of.

Thanks.

 Has anyone used this crank with a Campy 11 speed group? I emailed CC about this and they replied with

Quote:
There is no cross compatibility between SRAM or Shimano and Campy. Campy uses different dimension in the chain, chain ring, and cassette. Some crank specific manufacturers will make compatible cranks/chain rings like FSA, but Shimano and Sram do not.

Campy did slightly reduce the spacing between outer and inner ring for 11S to work with the narrower 11S chain.
I can imagine the 11S front derailleur working slightly better with the intended spacing.
Noticeably so? Probably not (at least not with DA7800 or Fulcrum RS cranks.)
