If you are using your bicycle for TT/speed, maybe the extra flex/absorption on the carbon is not so important?
But it looks like you have a minimal insertion, so it probably won't be an issue either way...I suppose the EC70 will be a bit stiffer...you said you are loooking for maximum stiffness.
I would think max strength would be important.
Is your Ultimate natural ti or painted?
I also would not use a shim, even if it was a Ti shim, which I don't think is available.
You might still e-mail Bold, to see if the Speedneedle rails will fit and what a 31.8 costs....
Do Italian Ti companies like Rewel or Morati make a 31.8 seatpost?
Also Moots make a beautiful Ti post, but I think only in 27.2/28.6....
