Woj is spot on. It's maybe 5 miles as the crow flies from the coast with amazing views of Morro Bay and Morro rock from the top. The descent (either way) is awesome, Prefumo is just a screaming, smooth, technical descent and the back side, See Canyon, is part dirt, part really steep fast stuff...
Most of the hills in the background are ranch property, which I have explored a little on a cross bike. There are some pretty solid climbs along the central coast though, but nothing like the 20+km climbs you see in the GTs.

Actually from close to two weeks ago - but have only now got around to updating my blog with day one of two riding around Bormio.
Bormio side of the Passo dello Stelvio
Near the top
Returned the 3km down the Bormio side to continue descending off the Passo dell'Umbrail

That's wonderful!
Continued down through Müstair to the village of Prato allo Stelvio to also climb the other side.
Down low
Finally above the Refugio that marks around 7km to go!
The quintessential Prato side Stelvio shot from near the top
And Tornanti Bormio side on the descent back to my hotel

The old cliff road to the left of the tunnel, I presume?Dalai wrote:Bormio side of the Passo dello Stelvio
Different climb HammerTime2. Old cliff road you are interested in is on the Gavia - took quite a few photos for you so will post these up soon...
Actually of the two days this was the nice one weather wise - day two over the Mortirolo and Gavia wasn't pleasant with rain and some sleet on the Gavia...

With many more on the horizon?
