Riding along yesterday when it felt like the brakes were applied. Wheel seriously buckled. On closer inspection this is what I found. Wheels Edge 1.38, DT Aerolite spokes, DT 240 hubs

I am now waiting for the new Alchemy UL hub to rebuild the wheel. The upside is the Alchemy UL hub will be 31g lighter.

Probably about 5000km. The wheels have taken a few big hits on rough roads, and being a bigger rider (95kg) I had been surprised by how true they stayed.
Funnily enough, the breakage happened on an easy ride, on very smooth roads.
No potholes, railway lines or anything.
My training wheels are also DT 240 hubs with DT R1.1 rims, which are older, and have probably 15 000km on them.
To date both sets of hubs have been fit and forget. No issues at all.
My LBS have seen a few DT 240's with similar breaks, a possible contributor being the lower spoke count and higher spoke tension using Enve / Edge rims.

Ive had DT240's on MTBs and tandems for years and never had one go, even had one on a MTB tandem I used for off road touring and never had one go so i dont think your weight is the issue (my 95kg +partners 60kg plus 40kg of luggage). Always used the 32 or 28 hole hubs
My LBS is going to talk to the DT rep, but the wheels are nearly 3 years old, so although low km they are probably not covered by warranty.
