I have a 2012 Cdale Supersix with ultegra. looking for a replacement FD clamp that is light weight. I'm just starting my journey into this lightweight weenie stuff. I dont have a lot of expendable money so this is all going to take time and in steps. I already have some things on order but was looking into FD clamps and didn't know what would be a good choice. Is there a point of going to light that it takes away from the durability with some of these items?

I saw a couple other options that were upward of $80-$120 and I just cant allow myself to spend that much on a clamp.

what are some other options that are under $50?

Ratio

about 5g, doesn't look all that strong but mine hasn't moved in about 5,000km

I bought mine from Chain Reaction where it seems to be on special at the moment, about $30

nice. I saw that one but was $50 when I pulled it up. thanks for heads up! the ratio looks to be about 10g lighter than the kcnc one I was looking at.

any other options out there?

The Parlee clamps are like 80-90 bucks I think, but can usually be picked up on Ebay for around 40-50.

Second the parlee clamp. It's pretty rigid -- most of the lightweight clamps simply flex when you're shifting and you keep having problems with them. The Parlee has to be mounted just right but clamps tight, and also avoids marking up or crimping the seat tube like the metal clamps.

I have the clamp by Ratio on my caad 9 and while shifting is still good, the clamp has dropped on me several times. I have now reassambled with carbon paste and a slightly higher torque value. seems to be keeping in place now.

put a little bit of that sticky backed ..like fine sand paper skateboarders use on frame ..so its against the clamp ..combined with a bit of paste nr the bolt & right torque ..et voila !

I guess I am a little confused after looking at my FD clamp. I'm looking at my FD and I see where the bolt tightens the clamp, but after looking at the "ratio" or kcnc or other brands I dont see where the front derailleur actually mounts to the clamp????

Do I need one like this?

Yours is a clamp-on derailleur, the seat tube clamp is integrated with the FD. Used on bikes that do not have braze-on tabs for FD attachment.

If you have a braze-on FD (one without the clamp), you can buy a clamp adapter for it (2nd pic).

Hey while we're on this topic, does anyone have a good suggestion for a 31.8 FD clamp I can put on my 34.9 seat tube?

You can't fit a 31.8 mm diameter clamp onto a 34.9 mm diameter seat tube.
