Looks like it was a great trip nspace - nice photos too! :D

@hammerTime2 - 800m tunnel is just below the top of the col on the south side, with old road off to the left. Will take some photos and post them here for you. :thumbup:

How far down does the old road re-join the new "tunnel" road? Or is there more than one re-join point?

Until your post, I thought that old road had perhaps been paved over, with real guard rails puts in, overhangs removed, etc, and lost to the winds of time in its former form.

nspace,

where is that long, skinny bridge?

Is the last picture a road close to Tobermory?

re Gavia
There is only one tunnel on the upper section (about 150 m, fairly steep around 10%). On the photo below you can see a covered gallery, and further down from there I think one can make out the end of the tunnel. (Unless I have it wrong and what you see cut into the cliff is the old road and the tunnel is hidden...)
The old road is just the length of the tunnel, a bit like the tunnel bypasses on the Grimsel.

When was the tunnel put in? When was the road (other than the remaining portion of the old road) paved?

The long skinny bridge is north on hwy 69, and crosses the French River. The last road, is another part of the road on the second photo. It is Hwy6 which goes down from Espanola to Manitoulin Island. The section goes through the La Cloche foothills to the west of Whitefish Falls First Nation area. Really beautiful road, low traffic, and lots of rolling hills for 30-40km.

@Dalai: Thanks!

Out in the hills in Melbourne this morning. The weather ended up clearing but it was rather horrid over the top of the hill.

Love that Yeti :mrgreen: Wanted one ever since the '94 Arc

As a side note, I think Dalai, Basilic, Makoy, and Diego could conspire an epic thread together.... so many great rides logged over the year(s).

So how much ice do you have in the seattube??? Otherwise, :oops:

Using up my 2 weeks vacation (what I get for the whole year) all at once right now... and won't ride at all... not complaining too much as it's so much fun showing 5 Europeans the US for the first time ever.
