Sorry if this is a repost, but I saw an article about FFWD's new all carbon wheelset:

http://reviews.roadbikereview.com/fast- ... t-wheelset

On paper these don't seem exactly groundbreaking as whilst they are light, they don't really beat deeper offerings from Mavic, Lightweight, Reynolds etc. I wonder what the performance is like...

They also seem very similar to the Corima MCC wheels.

At this price I prefer Corima or Ventoux.

IMO if they combine the robustness of other FFWD wheels with the repairability from the removable spokes, then they are a far better option than lightweight or corima

These are off the she;f, developed in Taiwan (can't remember who's stand I saw them on). FFWD are just the only company crazy enough to put them in thier line up.

Axles and bearings are tiny. If you do gain anything in aero and weight, you'd loose in axle flex and bearing wear/binding.

I looked into them - rider weight limit rules me out (85kg, which I am bang on).

I asked about these wheels in the Pro thread a while ago, but it got lost through the doping debate...

I asked if someone saw an actual pro team using these.
I personnally never found anything about pros using them, most use the F4R in hilly stages...

Louis:)

Hating a 'drivetrain' choice on one bike vs. another is as imbecile as people getting into fist-fights at a motor race that they are not actually racing in Australia over a debate between two car companies. It really is ridiculous.

Phill is right, the Ghost wheel set of FFWD is just an off the shelf product from Taiwan (as almost all of their wheels): http://yuniper.com/ghost.html

Stephen@fibre-lyte :QUOTE:In my experience, plus from all the products I've seen, no name companies copy parts but I don't think I've ever seen a new development come from one of them?UNQUOTE

Stephen, you will remember your above statement in an other topic about far east production .

The "Ghost" wheelset is a fine example of an innovative far east "no name" product rebranded and sold with an exorbitant price by a western company.
