I am going to buy a 2013 Vertex 29er, I have a good price on both top end models.

I have the spec and both bike have identical frame, bar, stem, post but have some "major" differences in the following aspects:

999 rsl
-sid xx world cup fork
-full sram XX
-dt swiss 1.4 hubs/rims (OEM?)

990 rsl:
-sid RL
-full sram XO (s2200 crank)
-dt swiss 1.5 hubs/rims (OEM?)

The bike will be used for a lot of training and racing. I know I like top stuff and LIGHT stuff. I am pretty sure I will be selling some take offs and replace them with lighter components I already have or will purchase like:

ENVE flat bar (got it)
temporary KCNC stem (got it)
when fit is dialed ill get a proper stem (length, rise, weight) (dont have)
XX gripshift (dont have)
sram quarq powermeter (got it)
light seatpost (dont have)
carbon saddle (got it)

so I will be selling brand new: bar, stem, saddle, seatpost, triggers, 180mm rotor.

What would you guys buy? I can have the 999 rsl for 1500$ more then 990 rsl.

You are not exactly asking an awesome question...

You'll be more than fine with the cheaper one but if you think you can afford the expensive one buy that...

What do you want, people to split hairs between XX and X.0?

Heck buy both.. XX to race and X.0 to train on......

well, if you could read between the lines you'd understand what I'd like to know.

Here it is, more precisely:

any major difference between the sid RL and sid xx WC? I see they have similar functions but different construction, is that the only difference? I am more worried about difference in performance then weight on the fork.

as for XX vs XO, I know its a minor weight difference. The other thing im wondering is the wheels, I cant find much on dt swiss 1é5 or 1.4 wheels. In the spec they are listed as dt swiss x1.4 and x 1.5. Can you tell me more?

thanks

I think you'd want to get a lighter wheelset no matter what bike you get.

I would say that it's up the differences between the forks to decide. 1500$ seems like a big difference in price, maybe it's just me. Perhaps the expensive one of the two has a high modulus carbon frame?

No the frame are the same

The difference between the sid RL and xx WC seems to only come down to crown and steerer material. From my understanding, performance and function wise, they sre the same

Since you are mostly parting them out, 1500 dollars is way, way, way too much to pay for a fork and two derailers.

About the wheels:
unless you are a dt fanboi, there are better options.

Thx socratease

Not really a dt fan but i like how easy it is to service rear hub

As for wheels, I already have some nice american classic hubs which will be built on crest and dt revolution spokes, they will be race wheels, with light kcnc rotors and sram xx cassette, both items I already own
