apologies if discussed, could not find a topic using search.

My tires have done about 2,500 miles now, the back one is starting to look a bit square, and with a few little marks (cuts?) in the rubber, the front doesn't look as bad though.

So how often do people replace, at a set distance? when they feel like it? do you move front to back and only by a replacement front?

I swap tyres when I notice a few cuts starting to appear . I use ZX clinchers and I usually start to get a puncture or 2 so I get some new ones. It might be worth saying what tyres you use the WW on here will no doubt blow your mind with there knowledge . :beerchug:

I ride my Contis until I can see exposed strips of cord down the center. But I admit that I am very cheap.

You may be due for a set if your rear is starting to square, it is probably affecting the ride quality more than anything else though. Swap to GP 4000s and they should last even longer.

the wear indicators are just about gone

the puncture rate suddenly goes up

there's any cut to the carcass bad enough to cause a perceptible bulge

they've done a lot of miles and i'm about to go on a cycling holiday

any sign of delamination or other worrying developments

2500km out of ultrasports. I ran mine for a few rides and ditched them as they were too puncture prone. The 4000s will feel alot better I think. 4 seasons are a similar price but should be more puncture resistant than the 4000s.

Same for training.
For racing you might replace tires a bit sooner.

I ride my GP400s until there is a sidewall blowout or an entirely shocking rate of punctures (which, at 1/year, could be something like 2-3 within a few weeks)
