Hello WW.
I came across this site randomly and was really quite fascinated with the level of detail to some of the rides in here. Among my interests are climbing and UL backpacking so the weight conscious focus has been with me for a while now.
This is my current ride and starting point.
Although this is my first road bike I have been riding bikes in general for quite a while.
Thanks.

Lighter wheels would absolutely blow your mind......a light custom build or something like a Williams System 19 or 30 would make a huge difference in performance for you.

As I understand it R500 weigh in at about 2055g/4.5lbs and the Williams 19s come in at 1353g/2.98lbs
dropping about 1.5 lbs from my ride! sweet
Are there other comparable wheel sets that weigh in as light but cheaper?
So far im just holding off so that down the road i can do a nice groupset upgrade but now I'd like to change my saddle and have pedals otw.

There are a few different wheelsets in the 1400-1550 weight class that would be a huge upgrade. Check out the Bicycle Wheel Warehouse Blackset Race they are a good deal cheaper and would get you in that range.
You'll be able to tell more difference from wheels than a grouppo.

These?

Those are nice and better price wise.
I saw the Shimano Rs30a weighing in at 1962 and Fulcrums Racing 7 at 1849 but those only seem like a small step up (if any at all) from R500 and only a few hundred grams lighter.
Are Easton's EA90's a good choice?
As far as a group I'd like a nice one in the future but know that 's not where the most weight can be dropped.
Thank you.
Id like to end with something near here:

If you where looking at the podiums I would consider these and lighter too. Tire and tube selection makes a difference. You tire should match your riding conditions to roll well and have acceptable reliability.
Yeah- I just blew out a durano rilling over some gravelly glass. SUCKS!
I think I may make the move to 23 Gatorskins after I wear these out.
But as far as wheels it seem as though those s.2 may be the way to go!
At 1330 at $430 I haven't really seen a lighter option for that price.
Anyone know of a set that is close in weight for cheaper?
I feel that 4-500 is the threshold for good wheel prices.

So, after a bit of interwebbing I discovered the stock weight of my Z95! It's 9.9 kg according to Felt's UK site (apparently yanks dont need to know the weight of their bikes) and according to my scale front wheel w/tyre and skewer is 1300g and rear w/ tyre and skewer is 2000g.
(3300g total)
I think I may go with BWW's Blackset Race Ten as they would drop almost 2kg off my current rig.
Any thoughts?

You might be better off saving your "upgrade parts" money and buying a new complete bike, more than just lighter weight you will get substantial performance increases as well....

down the road perhaps, but what were you thinking?
I feel like the abundance of CAADs and nice price point make me lean in that direction.
