Question about bb386 compatibility issue

I am thinking about purchasing a litespeed L1R and building it up with the new sram red and was wondering if i should just go with the fsa k force light evo bb386 specific crankset or if i could run a sram red exogram bb30 crank with a sram pf30 bb.
will there be any compatibility issues there, from what ive read/found so far i think it should work..
also, do you guys think one of these cranks is better than the other? and anyone else have any experience with the litespeed L1R?
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. trevor.

if the frame is bb30, you should get a bb30 crank. if youre getting a NewRed group, you ought to stick to the NewRed crank in bb30. if you really want to go with an fsa crank, ideally it would be the k-force light bb30 version instead of the bb386evo version. it's a bit lighter, nothing extra, gives you more heel/ankle clearance if you need that type of thing.
if the frame is NOT bb30, well, that rules out all dedicated (pure) bb30 options.

My understanding is that BB30 does not fit in BB386. You need to go GXP if you want SRAM Red.
I googled this in a few minutes.
Having said that..I don't quite understand it!
The issue is width..and whether or not your BB30 cranks will clear the frame containing the BB386 bottom bracket.
BB30 is designed for a 68mm wide bottom bracket, BB386 is designed for a 86mm wide bottom bracket.
I would guess that your BB30 cranks (which is designed to be very narrow in order for good 'Q'-factor ankle clearance) will not clear the BB386 bottom bracket.

I'm not sure why this is so challenging. A frame designed to the BB386 is 86.5 mm wide and takes a 30mm spindle. It will not take a BB30 crankset, which is designed for a 68mm wide BB shell. If this frame is a BB386 frame, it will take BB386 and standard 24mm spindled cranks with an adapter. That is it.

a quick google search says your frame has a 386evo bb shell. so no "pure" bb30 cranks. if you go sram red, it has to be the gxp one with an adapter. if you go fsa, get one that is 386evo and just plug it in.

That isnot gonna happened. You could hear Bb30 crank on BB30A shell, nothing else. Shell difference between PF30/BB30 and Bb386 evo is 18mm in width. BB30 crank is missing aroundish 13-14mm + .
For Bb386 you can use : UBB30 from Rotor, 386 from FSA, GXP from Sram and anything "Shimano" ( various brands ) + from other brands basically anything with spindle max OD 30mm and length at least same as Shimano.

Sram RED S975 (maybe also s900/s950?) cranks with detachable spider. Quarq and SRM use these SRAM 30mm spindle cranks. They are long enough to fit in a bb386.
